Flowmaster American Thunder NPP community reviews

I've seen a few forum posts about this axleback, but I'm just curious on how many people have it and what their feedback is. I'm on the fence between this and the borla S type with no valves, similar pricing between the two. In videos they seem significantly louder than the stock NPP. What are your guys thoughts about them? Deeper sound? How they sound with headers? Drone? Valve rattle? Stealth mode loudness? Etc. Thanks for any feedback. First post on here btw

I have them with Kooks 2 inch headers, RotoFab intake, secondary cat delete, NPP fuse pull and crushed pipe deletes. Everywhere I go, I get comments on how awesome the exhaust sounds. Really loud at startup and when you get on it but sounds just like stock when cruising. Best part which surprised me....NO DRONE. I highly recommend. I'm sure you've seen my video on youtube.

I think I've ran across it before, but yea that sounds really good. Did you put the axleback on before you did the rest of your exhaust? My buddy has a non NPP 1ss with just the flowmaster outlaws and it sounds amazing. Hoping this will sound similar, and with the ability to turn it down some in stealth mode. Thanks for the video!

I have the American Thunder axle back with the scavenger x pipe and Borla's 3" cat delete kit (custom fabrication was required to get the Borla and Flowmaster pieces to fit) I'm satisfied with the setup. With the valves open at idle it is slightly louder and not obnoxious. Overall tone is significantly deeper and probably 20-30% louder under throttle, especially at lower RPM, with much more pops under deceleration. With the valves closed it is about 10% louder than stealth NPP. However, under moderate or heavy acceleration at around 2500 RPM I have significant vale rattle. Additionally I have noticed some specs of rust formation on the tips (installed about 6weeks ago). Sound 9/10, Quality 7.5/10, Overall satisfaction 8/10.

So the borla cat delete is just the secondaries, or primaries too? Also the rust on the tips doesn’t concern you? Does it polish off or are the tips going to eventually rust apart I wonder. Thanks for the post!

I have the Flowmaster axle back w/NPP option as well and love it! Just thought about getting the Scavenger X pipe today but was wondering how it would connect from factory the cats back and to the axle back.

The Borla pipes only delete the secondary cats. The rust on the tips is disheartening, but I have so much going on right not it's not bothering me. Flowmaster has a lifetime warranty for rust, so if it does get bad I can always make a claim.

We are thrilled to hear that you are loving the new set up! In regards to the Scavenger X-pipes, we offer a version for automatics and one for manual transmission cars, that are both designed for a simple installation that requires minimal modification. To get a better idea of how these kits are installed, you can see our installation instructions here.
