Android Auto Issue
Hi all,
Whenever I plug in my android phone into my 1LT w/ tech package, "projection" turns into "Android Auto," but when I select Android Auto, the screen goes black, and the screen on my phone goes black, and Android auto never loads. Has been happening for months now. I have tried different cables and it does not fix the problem. My phone has undergone several android updates and the issue still persists. Anyone else have this problem?

I had this problem in my Note5 but I was due for an upgrade and bought a new Note8 and it doesn't have that problem.
I'm not sure what the issue was but both are on Verizon and had the current OS with updates. |

My Note 5 worked fine with my 2SS and now my Note 8 also works fine... Maybe try a reset on the phone (not where you wipe everything but a way to reset with leaving everything intact).

Did you have the dealer do the Android auto update? There's something they do, it's like an "activation" of sorts. They had to do it to my car when I first got it. Also check your settings in the menu in the radio settings, you do need to enable it.

98% of the problems to do with Android Auto and the vehicle, are to do with the PHONE..seldomly does it have to do with the car. The only thing the car does is PROJECTS the screen..everything else is happening on the phone..think of your car, like a computer monitor for your phone.. I had problems as well and I had to replace my phone before it acted right.. I suggest seeing if you can borrow someone's phone for 5 minutes and see if the problem replicates with someone elses phone. If it does then its the car, if it doesnt then its the phone. Im willing to bet the dealer will do this as a test if you take it to them.

I had a similar issue but after running all the updates on my cell I no longer had that issue. I still do have an issue with it being extremely slow after I unplug it. Sometimes i have to restart the phone after I unplug it from the car to stop it from crawling.

If you're serious about troubleshooting your phone ... you can enable developer mode in android auto by launching android auto while it's not plugged into any car...goto the menu and click on the "About Android Auto" button. In that screen, tap on the title "About Android Auto" at the top of the screen a bunch of times. It'll enable developer mode. From here you can click on the 3 dots in the top right and select developer options and enable logging as well as enable some other testing options that may correct the issue. But the logging is what's important as that will tell you what is happening when you click that AA button on mylink when it is plugged in.
If that sounds crazy...then I suggest you clear data/cache for Android auto, and remove the phone from your mylink system (bluetooth and AA setting in mylink) and then plug the phone in and go through the popups on the phone all over again when starting Android Auto (may need to start it on the phone the first time) |

I already had it working for several months. Problem seemed to start occurring out of the blue. I don't remember my phone having an update or anything before problems started to arise.

Do you have waze installed? For some reason it would black screen on my link. I deleted the app and have had no problems since.

I had to "reactivate" it a few times before every once in a while... probably because of some an Android Auto update or something. Then I had to stop the car and turn on parking brake to activate it again.
Try forgetting the car pairing in Android Auto app and try to go through all the pairing and setup again. |

As I stated before - first try it with another phone (go to a dealer if noone is around to lend you a spare) - see if that works.. if it works then you know for certain its your phone.
