The thread wasn't about whether or not I should do it. Just needed advice on the tune portion. My HP numbers when I'm done will be several hundred higher then I am now and not looking forward to melting any cats.

So your basing your tune is incorrect off of a Wideband? Do you think AEM would tell you their product is wrong? Why dont you have the the shop show you your trims in relation what the wide band is saying? Or get HP tuners and log yourself? If you had a bad tune you would know by now. Maybe have tehm put the bung closer up? Maybe remove the gauge, lol

Joe, if the headers help you to flow more air, MAF will measure this and add the appropriate amount of fuel and adjust timing as well as both of these are controlled off MAF. It may not be perfect for peak power, but it will be directionally correct.

The only thing that could cause problems is if you end up with a leak before the narrow bands which will skew your long term trims any possibly make you run rich/lean.

Not sure why it isn't working but I'll find out. No worries at all. I think the issues with the car undoubtably started after the header install, exhaust, and custom tune.
(issues being ATF gauge no longer working correctly, bogging down, misfires, and knock at WOT)
The shop found that the factory plugs were still in that they thought they replaced with 6510's. Replaced plug wires. Bogging and misfires were gone but then had knock at WOT. Two months since plugs and wires were replaced the bogging and misfiring returned. So not sure what direction it points to but I'm sure the tune is not out of the question.

Will never take it back to THE shop ... total loss of confidence in them. Same one that told me to use octane boost if it fixed my knock at WOT vs. hey that doesn't seem right... please bring it in so we can check it out.

Thanks Mike. I'll definitely get her figured out and post my findings.

Thanks man. I'm sure it just needs some tweaking and another set of eyes on it.

Hey Joe, just my worthless two cents. After my really BAD tune (raw fuel smell, and codes) I changed to smaller pulley, have not had a code since. I don't know what AFR is on mine, but every pulley change has made a difference. (3.50- rich, 3.125-throttle position sensitive, 3.375-good (but not great) As you know, I'm trying to find a professional tuner (that is resonable) I'm not paying to learn on my car...lol (great scam though) That 3.25 will be there shortly.

Thanks Brett. I know exactly what you mean.
