Changing Hi Flow cats out for off road pipes require a tune?
So I just want to do some testing with swapping out my hi flow cats with the off road pipes. Really looking to see if they are too loud compared to what I have now.
So the question is do I need to a tune for this at all? Not worried about picking up power from it just yet but without a tune will it cause any issues? Keep in mind I have a custom tune for the Whipple, Rotofab, 1 7/8 Kooks LT's w/ hi flow cats, and Kooks 3" exhaust. I know I can throw them on and see how loud probably without a tune but I want to drive it for at least a few weeks which means lots of peddle to the floor action.

I don't see why you couldn't. If possible, keep an eye on the fuel trims and boost level during WOT.

Yes.
You will have less restriction, Boost will drop, i would have the tune checked. |

What from a tuning perspective is normally addressed with this change? If your car was running a bit rich and you made this change would it lean it out a bit?

Might want to check your STFTs and LTFTs because if the UEGO is sensing a lean condition, then your stock O2 sensor probably will too which will affect your trims. It could also have to do with where the sensor itself is mounted now vs where it was before."

Joe totally forgot to let know what my turner said when I brought the car in. He ran data logging on the o2 sensors and everything else he monitors he said everything is in check. He did advise that the sensor is farther back from where is was after the header install and that the sensor needs to reach a temp to work correctly and at idle might not be reaching that temp. So I think we are okay

Who knows maybe my problem is a lot larger then the placement. Maybe my tune is just jacked. Would explain A LOT if it was.

At cruising (2500 or so) it bounces from high 14's to high 16's. When I go WOT it gets down in the 11's but still bouncy. Granted it reads a bit better at WOT but it still is bouncy, at least the reading is in a safe zone. But running way crazy to believe any of it is accurate and every time I look at the gauges it just burns me up that I paid for it.

It didn't do it before my header installation. It was rock solid as to where my foot was on the peddle. AEM said what I was experiencing was not normal at all.

I wouldn't change them at all. I don't think you'll see much power gain and yes you might see a loss of boost.
