The morning sessions seemed to be fine, most of it was in the afternoon, it was hot around 88 degrees and sunny, so the temps off the track was probably well into the 100's by the afternoon. I try not to track as much in the summer as these temps are rough on cars, it was unusually hot this weekend for september.
I have had only 3 dry sessions at VIR full in my ZL1. No problems yet and temps were 85ish in a 25min session. I am running again at VIR Nov 2-5.

I haven't been to one in a couple/few years. I wanted to go to the one up here in August, but I had a lot of running around to do that morning and didn't make it.

That's the icon for Microsoft Office's Word program. So, you read it as "Word" as in the informal slang agreement of the above quoted passage of you musing that maybe this is why the A10 isn't in a ZL1 1LE

I ran the car slow for one lap, warning went off , did one more lap at something less than normal, then went in. I was going to go out for third session with transmission temp gauge up on center cluster but we got rained out. Driving home from track, all was normal transmission temp stayed steady at 200. Has anyone else had any over heat issues? I though this car was not going to have the issues of the C7 automatics. I'm calling the dealership this morning. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks
Ok guys and gals. I think I've found a possible cause. I've been tracking actively and had no problems until a gt350r showed up. Well, of course I had to represent our brand and got all over his ass for over 3 laps being no more than a car length behind him. This is when I saw the trans go into limp mode. After I got the point by and got around him the temps returned to normal. I believe this is due to less air flow to the trans cooler. next time I get behind a slower car I will creep out to the side more frequently to improve cleaner air flow to my coolers.

Well if the trans cooler is indeed horizontally mounted in front, then it'll be a piece of cake to add a couple booster fans to the top.

Wow it just so happens that for a whole lap and a half before I got the temp warning I was tucked up behind a ZO6 who wouldn't give me the point by. I know the NASCAR guys sometimes have heat issues when drafting. The auxiallary cooler is in the bottom of front grill area. It is laying flat. Next time out I will stay off of others rear bumper and see how the temps respond. Thanks

That's going to be an interesting revelation if that indeed solves the issue for both of you. Now, to see if others of us can duplicate the problem and then resolve it in the same way.

That actually makes a whole lot of sense to me. I don't think there's much they can do from an engineering standpoint to combat blocked airflow. Maybe fans everywhere, but that's about it.

With no airflow, this creates a much larger cooling issue, but i wasnt behind someone when mine heated up. Short tracks will also play a large factor as airflow is more limited. Seems to me there is plenty of room under the car to put another inline cooler or something as the trans is also cooling the diff. Not sure how much the diff heats up the trans fluid?

Hi everyone, I had a very good day yesterday at Daytona. Temperature was a steamy 90 degrees plus and mostly sunny. I ran in the advanced group and put down four solid 30 minute sessions running sub 2:10 laps with plenty of traffic. I monitored the tranny temp the whole day and got to 270 plus once in the afternoon. I did try to stay in clean air if possible and never had any temp issues or warrnings!@!! Transmission was flawless and the car ran great!
