E85 questions
Q1 I can get 93 everywhere in NY but maybe not out of state if I decide to travel. Im wondering if I should just tune on 91 octane. Does the flex fuel sensor read octane levels as in can tell the difference between 91 and 93?
The closest E85 to me is 25miles away. Im in the country so thats not very far. There are 4 station in Buffalo ny and some in Rochester. if I want to go somewhere else I may have to put 93 in it. Q2 I have to store the car during the winter. no im not putting studded snows on it. I have a 4wd Silverado with 4 studded snows on it so I can make it to and from work. The car will sit for 6-7 months. Is there a way to keep E85 good that long or should I just fill it up with 93 when storing it? Q3 Im thinking of getting fuel jugs to bring home. It should be good for a month?

A2-my best advice would be use 91/93 not e85 for storing,e85 will turn into a sort of gel if stored for 6-7 months, save yourself some headache. A3-i keep 10 gallons of e85 in jugs at my home almost constantly but shake them every couple of days or just use them, nothing wrong with keeping jugs of e85 to save you a 25 mile trip to the station. e85 is well worth the trouble and investment, nice power gains, smells awesome, exhaust tips stay much cleaner,im sure others with more know how will chime in as well.

It will be fine storing the car in a climate controlled facility with e85. Google search and 5 minutes of reading came up with several people doing it without issues. Also my brother converted his 4th gen over to e85 and it gets stored 5-6months a year...he has not had a issue either.
