People Suck...

I just got my car back from the dealer fixing a transmission stutter. I turn on to the interstate, drive about 3 miles and boom. I run over a box... an empty box.. with its full contents on the ground. Nails.

I ran over a box of nails spread all over the interstate. This 100% had to be intentional.

I checked my tires and all 4 have nails in them. The left rear has at least 7 and the right rear has at least 5. I'm so pissed.

Anyone know what standard 20" SS F1 Runflats are running at Chevrolet dealers right now and where I might be able to get cheaper.

Pissed.

That does suck. I have to agree. Murphy’s law is working against you. See if you can find an online price for the tires and get the dealer to match is as close as possible. Everything is negotiable.

Did you take any pictures of the location with nails all over the road? I would think that's an insurance claim, not just a flat tire. Also check your pouch that you got when buying your car. They do warranty tires for certain things.

No I couldn’t take pictures, I was too far down the interstate and it was far to busy to get on the middle of a 8 lane highway.

I don’t have a warranty over it though, I didn’t buy any extra add on warranties. I’m calling the insurance in the morning.

Honestly you might want to file a police report with that many nails you might not be alone and this could help you with an insurance claim. I hit a piece of tire tread one evening and it cracked my wife's bumper cover on her Suburban and gouged her 20" polished rim. Mine was covered by our insurance company 100% bumper cover replaced and new rim ordered.

Good luck it cannot hurt getting the report.

Now that really sucks! I would never go to the dealer for tires. That's like asking for a steak in an Ice Cream shop. Go to someone that specializes in tires. Discount Tire, Tire Barn, Tire Rack, etc...

Sorry to hear that.

More likely a work truck left a box of nails on the tool box and then hit a bump.

Check the Member's classified section for some takeoffs.

He was saying to look and see what your original tire warranty says. I'm unsure if Camaros have any type of road hazard coverage, but it's worth taking a look in the manual paperwork. I'd go look at mine, but it's not currently available. Otherwise file an insurance claim. Had a tire slasher go through my neighborhood a few months ago and he got all 4 of mine. Insurance paid out minus deductible. $250 is much better than $1750!

Definitely look literally anywhere other than the dealer for tires, unless you make an insurance claim.

Plus 1. And that's exactly what I meant.

I have found the dealerships in my area were cheaper for the OEM tires plus if you time it right you can get mail in rebates for the tires as well.

My last 2 sets of tires the dealership beat Discount tire by $125 and $200.

I just put 2 20" F1 runflats on my SS this past weekend at Big-O tires. $358 for each tire plus installation. Came to $829 total so about $415 each installed.

I did this because I had a nail that was within 1" of the sidewall and they could not fix it. These tires are nail magnets, it is the 3rd time I have a nail in one of the rear tires in 1 year. I have other cars that go years, sometimes 2 or 3 sets of tires, without getting a nail in them.

actualy dealers are trying to be more competitive with tires now. Mine will price match and offer they can verify.
