Wheels Powdercoated?

What ya think the cost would be to have a set of 4 wheels done? I bought a set of 1lt wheels and tires for my trip down south this winter and they would look much better black. Might even have a red stripe done around the edge>>> Ideas what it might cost me ??

Powder coat varies, but the range is between $50 and 150 a wheel.

i managed to get hooked up via a friend with a commercial powdercoater in SC who did the entire set in gloss black for 225.00. The only reason he took the job on was the wheels were brand new dealer takeoffs with < 5 miles on them.

If i had a set of older wheels i would have had to go through a shop that regularly does them and pay more since there is more skill work involved making an old wheel look good.
Every shop i called locally quoted me 125.00 per wheel

I paid $125 per wheel powdered and $30 per wheel for the pin stripe on my spare set. The stripe looks ok from a distance but up close it's obvious that it's not the 56H wheel.

Locally here in Orlando the average cost is $40 per wheel I checked to see about a set of split 5-spokes to have them powder coated glossy black.

What color? Try industrial oil field type of place. I once had a whole rolling chassis pcoat for 400 dollars. Gloss black. That was frame, arms , axle, bumper brackets hood hinges. A whole truck load plus a trailer. Only catch was they only did black neon orange and green, safety type of colors

Glen recommended Technical Painting of Jacksonville. I boxed up and shipped my wheels to them.

I chose to go with Blackjack from Prismatic Powders. I knew exactly what I wanted before I shipped the wheels. I ordered 4lbs of the powder and had it drop shipped to Tech Paint. Chris did a great job, turned them in a week, great with communication, and was very reasonably priced. I'm very pleased.

The local guy that did my rear brake calipers quoted $150 per wheel. He sends them out for chemical stripping rather than doing a media blast, because the media blast creates a rougher finish. This was for my OEM black wheels when I wasn't sure if GM would replace them, which they did.

WATCH OUT WITH THE CHEAP POWDER COAT PRICES.
many people take short cuts that may seem harmless at the time but will cause issues down the road.

in order to paint or powder coat a wheel it needs to properly be completely stripped from its original paint, this alone will cost the shop about 10.00-15.00 each/ as this part gets sublet out. after that someone needs to prep he wheel which can take about 1-2 hours to complete depending on the complex design, after that comes the the base or straight color and after that comes the clear coat. plus the shop needs a little wiggle room in order to provide craftmanship warranty on there work.
a key sign is when your wheels are completed are they coated all around?? inner barrel, outer barrel, face and back of face or is it partially coated? like only the face and inner barrel.... thats a half ass job.

just saying guys

I just dropped off my old VFS1s to get them powder coated to matte near red chrome, for $500.

Great info and I can attest to this. I've had bad powder coating and it looks uneven. MMR does great work, my 017's are a great powdercoat job.....
