Recaros

Took delivery yesterday on a Z 1le and I do have one minor issue I need to fix. The seat's. I'm a big, tall guy, 6'6" 250 lbs and while perfectly comfortable sitting at the dealership and test driving, I found the Recaros to be too narrow at the upper back over the long drive back from the dealership. I am thinking of swapping them out with my 16' 2SS seats, but wonder about a couple of things.

Saw Sledge's video http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showth...ghlight=recaro and am curious..

- how difficult would this be to do? It doesn't seem like a big deal especially with Sledge's video above.

- Are there other options for seats? If I do the swap, I would still have the issue, only now it would be with the 2SS.

- Is there anyone that would be willing to swap a pair of nice to brand new standard seats for the Recaro's? Not sure if I want to go this far yet but the idea seems like it should work, as long as the first questions is doable.

I did find the headroom to be better than the 2SS with sunroof, I am much more comfortable with my helmet on than in the 2SS.

Thanks!

I haven't seen this done before, but it may be possible to change out the upper seat back frame with one from an SS. I don't know if the dimensions on the seat cover will work or not. If it works, it would preserve the look of the interior.

The C7 Corvette uses different higher density foam in the Sport Seat vs the standard GT seat to make it more aggressive, but uses the same seat bottom and back frame in both seats.

If you do decide you want to swap you might want to post that in the general section as well as everyone in this section would already have Recaros.

Oh yes, thank you. Good point.

Could a moderator move it there for me?

Let them break in. I'm 6' 320lb and and was suicidal for 1st 1,000 miles but now at 2200 they are getting more and more comfortable. I wear a size 56 jacket, so I'm not just heavy but wide shouldered.

Wow, hard to see that happening, but I'll hold out hope. I put 800 miles on them just driving home and now it hurts to sit in it due to the beating I took.

If the foam was softer would you fit better? If so, the seat foam can be drilled in a grid pattern to soften it up where you need it. If not, it's the aggressive seat frame.
