Nail in my run flat tire.
Well Damn....nail in my tire within 1 month of ownership. I remember when I had my Vette and run flats were not repairable. I pulled the nail and sure enough, air started spewing out. Called my local discount tire just to see if it was possible to repair, he said that in the last 8 months that they now can repair them, apparently there is some new material that will fix run flats. So.. had it plugged, hopefully won’t have any issues with it.

Tell us know if you have any issues in the future. Also where in the tire did you get the nail?

Dont know where you found that run flats are not repairable. Goodyear and Michelin both approve of repairing run flat tires as long as the object is not in the outer treadblock zone of the tire.

Nah...never buy the warranty. Plan on storing the car in a month and in the spring I will buy new rims and tires. These tires won't see the car again until I sell it. Hope that plug is still intact by then. Good to know. All I could see when I saw the nail was $$$. Discount said they have only been plugging run flats for less than a year. The last time I ran run flats, they were not repairable. |

You're lucky. Picking up a bolt on the interstate did this and cost me a tire.

Picked up a screw after I turned over 500 miles. I limped it to a Firestone because it was closest to work and they wouldn't patch it. Funny, bc the kid told me the only repairable run flats were bridgestones. I never researched it so i dont know how true that is. Wish I had the tire an wheel warranty. Had it on my bmw for 5 years and never used it. 2 weeks into my camaro and the screw happened.

Plugged mine on the side of the road. Over 2,000 miles no problem. Don't buy that "you can't repair run flat tires". That's just BS to sell tires.

I have had three tires replaced and one repaired in two years of ownership. Only one original tire left on the car. I thank GM for using run flats since I don't have to worry if I do pick up a road hazard. Every flat was caused by a nail/screw. Too much home building in this area, I guess.

So if these run flats are repairable, would it be wise to go to an HPDE track day after one of the original run flat tires has been plugged?

Picked up a nail earlier this summer. Used a cheap plug type kit $10. No problems 3k later and lots of aggressive driving.
