X-pipe

Here is a question about the factory X-pipe, should I stay with it or should I go aftermarket, I have been looking at the Magnaflow X-pipe and was wondering what other peoples thoughts are.

If you get rid of the xpipe and go aftermarket you lose the AFM and the CEL goes on. I got the tsp headers and xpipe and got it tuned and have no cel light

The X-pipe is before the AFM and if they did it right, you wouldn't lose AFM.

AFM valves are before the x-pipe (only on automatics).

Do you have an auto or manual? Are you just doing it for sound? Are you trying to keep the OEM muffler?

I added a Borla 60606 mid-pipe and love the way it sounds, as it also deleted my secondary cats. I was able to do it in my garage with no welding required.

I have an A8 and as I am crawling up under the car from the back you have the valves then the factory X-pipe, I replaced the stock mufflers with Flowmasters.

I stand corrected. I have a manual. I thought they were forward.

Just ordered an aftermarket axle back and thinking of going LT headers soon. Is there any benefit to doing an aftermarket x pipe like Borla 60606 or should I just keep the stock pipe and retain AFM?

Other than a better sound, not much gains in power unless you're going into the much higher horsepower numbers. But for what an X-pipe costs, I'd get it to make the car really sound good.

If I may suggest, since you have Flowmaster axle back, why not go with the Flowmaster Xpipe? I have both Flowmaster Outlaw and Xpipe and it sounds good...really good, I get lots of compliments on it. And for the cost of the Xpipe from them its a good deal. The performance isn't much, if any, but its not why I did it.

There is a video on youtube with this setup, the thumbnail shows a picture of the Flowmaster Xpipe. I believe it is called - "2016 Camaro SS - catback" its not a long video, maybe 1 min long.

You can check out my IG @2SSVVGE_SF

I had my x-pipe swapped with a H-pipe, and recently cut the secondary cats out, but don't have videos of that yet.. Entire job cost about 300 for both.

And I get a bunch of compliments on it. Definitely sounds different from a X

Do you have any updates on doing a sound clip? You're the second person on this forum I have seen mention doing an H-pipe instead, maaan I bet that sounds deep and mean!
