Now this is just my experience and I am Canadian so I don't know what things would be like in the US. But while you're under the 5-year powertrain warranty GM will tow you to the nearest dealership for free.

It's not in my best interest since i'm already paying for the same services as aaa through my car insurance and onstar is garbage. You know onstar's not in your interest because the car manufacturer is shoving it down everyone's throat for free or close to it.

I've seen a few times where OnStar has helped solve a few crimes. I remember one where a guy did a hit and run, and OnStar called PD and gave the necessary information. The OnStar car was the hit and run suspect and the crashes were easily able to be pieced together.
Another one I recall was where a guy was doing donuts in the boonies and hit a curb, causing OnStar to call PD. Turned out the guy was also DUI. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

I have been wrestling with this myself. My On-Star trial ended and I didn't renew as I did not use anything in that period and couldn't determine what benefits I would get other than money out of my pocket. The only reason I'm even questioning On-Star or AAA is that I want to swap out my run flats for better tires which could leave me with a problem if I get a flat. So, will either be of assistance in this situation or how are others handling non-run flat tires and no spare or donut?

You get a discount depending on your insurance company check onstar website. Also the state police come faster when you use onstar instead of phoning them. I go to work in the middle of the night and used onstar to call them a few times.
