Maintaence & Warranty

So my 2017 has been out of the complimentary oil changes from GM for two oil changes now. I went and paid my local dealer to change the oil on the previous go round, but this go round I wanted to use full synthetic and had an oil change place do it. I would do it myself but I live in a neighborhood with strict HOA's and they would crucify me if I so much as put my car on a jack. So here's my question, if I had services done outside of GM, such as oil changes, filter changes, ect.. will it affect my warranty? This would be the first car I would have owned brand new.

No, changing the oil someplace other than a GM dealership will not void your warranty unless you put an oil in the car that is not compatible with the car and you take it in for engine issues.

Would only be a problem if that outside service caused the problem. ie they used a crappy filter that falls apart. Want to be safe, insist they use the correct ACDelco filter and right spec oil.

Those instant oil change places rob you blind for using Dexos. My wife took her Traverse into one once and she paid almost $100. I would just stick with the dealer. At least they rob you blind and you stay in their good graces in case of warranty. That is, if you can't find a place to change it yourself. I do my own and log it in the owners manual with the receipt for the oil.

My buddy, who used to work for Chevrolet Service, said as long as you put in something equivalent to or greater than the original oil, your warranty goes unaffected. I.E. the car comes with dexos (half reg half syth) so Dexos or Full Synthetic is allowed.

you are able to use the my chevrolet/onstar site to log your own maintenance.

That's what i do. I refuse to take it in for regular maintenance.

Also, yes, i second the move to a new house comment.
