It might be the exhaust contracting while cooling down? I had a co-worker who had situation with a weird sound after he parked. He showed it to me one day and my first thought was it sounded like it was coming from the muffler. He brought it to the dealer and had them replace the muffler. Next time you drive and get the operating temp up and then park wait by the car and try to localize the sound.

Is this something to worry about?
Nah it's just the exhaust cooling down after driving, it's like a metallic ping/knock sound

Same here. At first I thought someone is knocking my right window or door.

prob exhaust cooling down like everyone said or a fuel tank pressure thing.

I have been wondering what this is as well.
Happens a few minutes later with the car turned OFF. Like someone lightly knocking on my car back window somewhere.

Glad to know that I wasn't hallucinating or my garage isn't haunted. It can be startling especially after a long day and drive home from work.

Funny, I was sure it was something like this, but it still catches me off-guard if I am still sitting in my car.

My 2SS M6 makes loud clank noises near the front. Thinking it might be the rotors or radiator? Sounds like a hammer on an anvil kind of noise not the ticking of hot exhaust.

I have been experiencing this as well on mine as well. It's definitely not the exhaust and it can happen right after the engine is started or turned off.

So I went to the dealer to address the NPP rattle issue and also mentioned to them the knocking noise. Turns out its the EVAP solenoid.
