My local dealer wouldn't budge on their +$35K MSRP price on the HBM, 1LT 1LE they ordered for me back in January. So I bought my white 2LT 1LE from the New Smyrna dealership, for under $35K, it had a $41K MSRP.
Keep looking, they're out there. I know there's a Krypton green one (2017) that's still in Jacksonville optioned very much like mine...BUT they seem to be holding to the $41K MSRP in their ads I've seen.

Mislead people? We are into September right now--which is the month that these deals take effect. Secondly, these deals come out EVERY YEAR around September/October in the Northeast--it's aggravating that people say these deals never come out, but yet every year they do. They come out on the Corvettes, Camaros, Silverados, Tahoe, Suburbans, etc--all the 2017 leftovers while the 2018's are coming in on the lots. In the NorthEast, the dealers don't want to pay floorplan on the cars that won't be sold in the winter and in the spring, they are already a year old.

With me ASSUMING your college degree is in a STEM field where you are actually employable and not in a social justice warrior ($=useless) field, your next goal is buying a house, not a car. Yes, the 6th Gen Camaro is an attractive temptation, but you are FAR better served in buying a home before a car. Quote:

Not everyone has a priority of getting a house. Just out of college and starting work there is the possibility of them being single. Even if they are married there is no telling how large their family may grow. Depending greatly upon the situation, renting maybe the best option. Problem with getting a home is the maintenance involved, I know and it sucks. Plus way too many variables to say that a house should be their priority besides, that's not what they are asking for in this thread. Suggestions are cool and all but when its so far off topic, not so much. Young people have to learn lessons for themselves. You can try to prep them up for the real world but they may or may not take your wisdom to heart. My opinion, seems like a new car might be too much change to the financial situation right now. But since that's really not what the OP is asking for we should assume they have a plan rather than jump to conclusions.

There are still 17 left sitting on the lot that they want to move so if you go and pick one that has been there for some time they are more apt to cut deals then on an 18 that rolled off of the truck and on their lot a week ago.
Most dealers have carrying costs for sitting inventory so they are motivated to move them out if they have been there for some period of time. It would be a smart move to go to a dealer with a few 17 on their lot and find a sales guy who is helpful and has been for some time and ask him which of their camaros has been on the lot the longest. If that one appeals to you then start negotiating with them and use your ammo well. work them till you think you cant get it down any more and then offer them 1000 less and say its your final offer take it or leave it and make sure to throw in "do you really want it sitting around for another 180 days until someone gives you a serious offer?" If the counter again just say that was best and final its not open to counter offers have a nice day and get up. Bet on it if they counter again then the sales manager has told the sales guy try and get this but if he doesnt take it let him have it for his price. You won. If they don't counter there is no more room and you might as well go or accept their price. I think I did ok when I got my car. I paid $37,235 for my 17 SS 1LE with the PDR option and aero kit on it. I have the extended warranty added in as well for good measure. Out the door it was something like 42K after taxes and fees. That's less out the door then the MSRP was. Even the dealer said I ended up probably getting one of the cheapest 1LE's in the country. Good luck, and if you don't have a poker face or confidence don't even try. Also it's better to go in with your financing already approved with your choice of bank or credit union. That's the same as cash and cash prices are always better. |

Bingo!! You don't even have to wait that long--the bonus tag deals usually roll out end of September. If you want a deal, be patient.

GM specifically cut back the 3rd shift at the Camaro plant so they wouldn't have to pull their pants down this time of the year like they did last year. 2017 Inventory is nowhere near what 2016 inventory was this time last year. This time last year I had 2016 Camaros coming out of my eyeballs on the lot, this year the 2017s are already almost out and the 18s are here. This year and last year are different scenarios. I wouldn't rule out 20% for Black Friday but inventory in most places will be gone.

I've found that some who brag about their artificially low price deals don't disclose how screwed they got on their trade-in, or how much negative equity was attached to their loan to subsidize the 'great deal' they got. The dealers are not in the business of losing money; they'll get their end on the front or back side of the deal, or even both sides.
That said, there are some great deals out there on the 1LE, especially left-over 2017's. $33k OTD for the V6 or $41k OTD for the V8 would be great deals, depending on the color and options. You may even pay a little less in tax exempt states too! |

A little car buying advice from someone who got a good deal can't hurt right. But since you decided to be a Jerk let me respond. R.C. Collins Please Stop reading Here if you were not referring to my posting with my apologies. I wouldn't be so stupid as to post a claim like that online and not be able to prove it. So if want then just ask and you will receive by email the paperwork for verification of my claim. But afterward I would also expect an apology. If you ask for it and don't apologize I will just post it for all to see what splendid character you display. I will tell you a little info that you probably didn't bother to read which was the story I posted when I joined. It's a little long, I will be the first to admit but it seemed like a story worth telling. Had you read that you would know that if anyone deserved a good deal it was me. There was no trade in and nothing was rolled into any other loans. It was a straight out purchase of just the car. Here is where reading the story is important. You would have known there wasn't any trade since 3 days before my birthday someone stole my Audi S5 convertible out of my driveway. 3 Days! Before my birthday! Talk about a crappy birthday. If you're half a car guy you know that was my baby, I loved that car. I had taken off the grill and blackened it since I had gotten black 20 so it would match. Did all the work myself even the painting. Put on a custom european plate on the front since when I blackened the grill I found the european plate holder under a removable cover. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1i5...tOk0njIhETEvIg https://drive.google.com/open?id=1oj...eprMyy7XMoinHA https://drive.google.com/open?id=1wH..._td7pZtYDF39dQ This was what they stole from me. I love my SS 1LE but this was not too bad either trust me. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1lp...wT08T3atfqCrqQ Yes i am guilty I went into the dealership with my sob story. Yes it's true that I milked it for all it was worth. I also am guilty of shrewdly negotiating but honestly the dealer wanted to move it and it seemed like they took pity on me. I was enthusiastic about as you can get and they gave me a heck of a good deal considering that the car also came with the aero package. I found out later the 1LE just normally has only the splitter and lip spoiler so that was an extra bonus I didn't even know I had gotten until after I had the car. This little bit of info will probably blow your mind. When I purchased the car I financed the loan through my credit union and I put down $2354.00 if memory serves me correctly. My monthly payment is 389.85 per month. My S5 payment was almost like a mortgage on a modest house. It's a 60 month loan. If you want to know how that's possible check out Penfed its where smart shoppers get financed. I'm really not one who would bother with a response to someone who is bitter about the price they paid. All I can tell you is next time put a little more thought into it and maybe you will get a good deal or not have to roll negative equity into your next loan or whatever it is you're pissed about. Don't rain on others parade it's rude. I had enough garbage handed to my to last a lifetime by the POS who stole my car 3 days before my birthday. ![]() ![]() ![]() PS: Im very sorry for going off topic and hijacking your posting I just got a little upset. I'm pretty new to forums I usually don't bother when you have to deal with this BS. Hopefully I didn't over react lol. |
