I had this problem. Mine turned out to be the throttle controller. Took it off and haven't had issues since. It worked for a couple of months. My car is stock.

I have had this problem that last week. I have reset my TCU several times and keep getting this message. It was fun, but not fun enough to mess up my car. I emailed Vitesse but never heard back. Anyone want a messed up, I mean slightly used, TCU?

The problem is that THE CAR cannot adapt fast enough to an ever changing throttle input when a person randomly starts switching up and down from sp 1 to 9 and then all also idle revs at 4000 plus rpm all over the place! Similar issues would happen if you suddenly start using 87 octane, drive hard, go back to 93 octane, and then to 87 again etc. You will surely throw a code if you have a vtc, keep switching sp levels, and idle reving at 4000 or so -which gm has programmed to limit anyways. The VTC is simply a voltage input changer, it is the car's stock tune that is the limiting factor! Thus you have to make the both of them learn to play together nicely! The cars brain is dealing with enough crap with the pre set nannies giving voltage inputs, and things like and Drive Mode menu constantly trying to disappear (escape) from the settings page. Idle reving and switching sp levels just sends the car into a brain seizure. The VTC is the best thing you can do before voiding your warranty.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I have had to reset my TCU because it keeps setting off the reduced power mode. I kept it at 6 and loved it. But I literally have had the warning come on 5 times in the last three days.

I love driving with it...but not worth it not working. Hopefully I can return and get a new one.

"I've had a Vitesse on for a year now. Can't live without it. BUT, I was getting this intermittent problem. I'd have to recalibrate it every few months, and then it got more and more frequent, becoming weekly and then daily. Became a real pain but I HATED not having it on there. My only other mod was the skip-shift delete and the Roto-fab intake. I believe I fixed it, though. I unfortunately did two things at once, so can't be certain which fixed it, but I *suspect* unplugging the negative terminal on the battery for a few hours and then plugging it back in to reset everything is what fixed it. I'd never done that when I put the Roto-fab on (even though it was in the instructions), and I suspect something needed to recalibrate but hadn't. The other thing I did was spray some compressed air and then WD-40 in the connectors between the VTC and the OEM harness, just incase something was stuck in there. I'm pretty certain the battery was the fix, though. Just a heads-up. If you start getting the issue again, give that a shot and hopefully that'll be the end of it. It's a great product, and I'd hate to have to drive without it - the car is so much more fun with it." |

Since "fixing" it I've probably only done another thousand miles or so, but I'm happy with it all so far, running at SP5. I definitely think it's worth trying, especially unplugging the negative terminal for 30 minutes or so to clear everything out (you won't lose radio settings etc as far as I recall) and then recalibrating the VTC once you have reconnected. |

Thanks for input. I actually disconnected the battery twice in as many days without lasting positive effects. I miss the VTC but can't justify having to recalibrate it everyday.
