Range AFM Device

Just received my Range Device, tried it out last night...all I can say is WOW! What a difference in the SS! Acted like a whole different car, much smoother, no hesitation. So no A8 issues, though that might be the case, but much better. Recommend it for everyone with the SS V8, AFM is crap!

On the C7 Corvette, all you had to do was click the shifter into the Sport (Manual) slot and AFM would go away. Is the Camaro different or has no one tried this..??

Yeah Steve, no go on the camaro , I tried it immed when I got the car, it uses AFM no matter if paddles or manual are used...

That being said, I think , like the c7, the AFM on this car is fine, you have to look for it....I have the range, I only use it on long trips, for no good reason. I'll prob sell it soon.

The AFM on the 5th gen was terrible.

AFM on my SS is terrible! With the Range it is like a whole new car! Much smoother, no jerkiness, no hesitation, night and difference for me.

I've used the Range AFM for the last three years on my 2013 SS; I couldn't tolerate driving without it - it was the first mod I made to my car.
I traded the 2013 in for a 2016 SS last week, and found that AFM is much less intrusive than on the 2013. I can still detect when AFM kicks in and out, but it's not bad.
I found that selecting Manual mode and using the paddle shifters keeps it in V8 mode (same as on the 2013 SS model).
I plugged the Range in and it did its job of defeating AFM but it also threw a Check Engine Light, so I'm going to send it back to Range for a free firmware update.

Sorry to dig up an old thread....But how is the Range now? Being we are in August 2017....any problems with it? Thinking of getting one.

After a year of driving without the Range, I decided to plug it back in a few days ago. No warnings yet. It does eliminate the hesitation and slight jerkiness when afm transitions on and off, so it's more pleasant to drive. Can't tell yet what the impact on fuel consumption is.

I stopped using mine, had CELs and had ky transmission rebuilt back in the spring, so I am not using it anymore.

You can go in and permanently turn AFM OFF with the HP Tuners software.
