Update- Dealer was going to drop pan. Didn't. Said GM wants them to get another LT1 and listen and compare to see if the noise is normal. Great.

Also have a lemon lawyer involved now.

I ran into the same thing but with my paint. A service rep acknowledged I had a problem. He went out of his way to try to get me a buy back. I say out of his way because this was a dealer I didn't even buy my car from. Then a few days later he tells me GM says it meets spec and there isn't anything he can do. I tried to meet with the GM rep multiple times, but the guy avoided me. I hope you have better luck than me. I'm glad you got a lawyer.

Might help. You still have the AFM lifters and cam etc...just not activated. Better than activated autos. not sure how much it helps. It has to be better than the lifters going from full to collapse and back many, many times.

With all the issues with the AFM lifters, I'm not sure the afm lifters are as good as standard lifters, even with AFM off. I know most if not all paying for their own repair (out of warranty) are going with non-AFM stock or performance cam, non-AFM lifters and some springs too.

Texas speed and performance sells the kits. They told my shop owner friend, that is repairing a 5.3, that they are not seeing the failures in the newer GMs. This maybe to lower mileage or being repaired under warranty. Or maybe better design. As a bulk of these cars get over 60,000-80,000, we will get a better picture.

I just feel that non-AFM cam and lifter is best and not sure how much AFM off cuts the risk, if GM has not improved the quality. All this would be a good question for the GM engineers at the next big Camaro meet.

There are 2014 Silverado on the road since august 2013 in high mileage already with the same engine. My dad drives a 14 just under 100k. There are examples available today

2014 vettes too

Don't get me wrong, if I open the engine, ls7 lifters will go in. Especially so I can rev to 7k

Minor update - No progress. In my opinion dealer is dragging their feet. Each time I've been there it's been just sitting outside in their bull pen. Writer didn't even ask why I was pulling it out. No questions at all.

So I'm at the dealer now pulling it out and taking it to another dealer that has done engine repair for me years ago. I have a connection with the service manager there.
