But the Hellcat, CTS-V and M5 are BIG cars. They can all pull some impressive times on a road course, but don't let that fool you. I've driven them all and hard...none of them feel like a ZL1 because they're not really sports cars. Even the CTS feels like a tank...a great handling tank, but still a FAT tank.

Anyone who still labors under the illusion that a Hellcat is a 707 HP car needs a doctor. This is a 4500 car that can run a quarter in low 11's on the fairly skinny stock rubber. 10.85 happens all day on DRs and we all know that. Forget the dyne because I've spoken to folks at FCA and I know beyond all doubt that the Hellcat is in the 750 HP range. Sure, 707 sounds impressive, but the math isn't there for the car to hit the numbers it does on 707.

On stock rubber, from 70 MPH, my Hellcat charger can hurt your neck if I nail it. A ZL1 falls somewhat short of that (I've had two chances to drive the car here in LA).

So once again I want to point out the following:

A Hellcat is a BIG comfortable monster that is insane fun. It handles better than it has any right to for a BIG car that can seat 4-5 people easily. The trunk can swallow pretty much anything. It's THE most excitement you can buy while still pretending that's you're a practical dad. My Charger Hellcat is a FAMILY car.

Visits to the dealer and a few ZL1 rides later and one thing is for certain: The ZL1 has a 3rd of the practical attributes of a Hellcat and that's being generous.

But the ZL1 is a FULLY ROUNDED sports car. It's FAR more dialed in for overall performance and it's a serious platform for a road course. By contrast my Hellcat is a point & shoot missile. On a road course I can test my skills in the Hellcat, but it's NOT a sports car.

Thus I will get a ZL1 as well.

If the Hellcat is a few 10th's faster, do I care? Absolutely not one bit. Do I care that the ZL1 handles better? Absolutely not one bit. Because Both are great cars within their intended design envelopes. It's almost idiocy to compare them as they are EXTREME in their differences and goals.

R.
I'm still waiting on one of these Hellcats to prove it to me be it a Challanger or Charger! I ran a Charger last night from a 40 mph roll and left him! I haven't seen one run better times at the track than me (on the same night, which is a very important factor)!

Well, I confirmed that you are right.....or that mine is broken too, because I tried line lock and launch control again today with 18 psi in my tires, and it all works. I must have forgotten to switch to Track mode or something last time I tried it with low air. I played launch control a bit while I was at it and managed to find a setting that didn't seem to cut power too much and also let it spin a bit without it getting too sideways, cutting throttle, and nosing over. Maybe it could actually be useful at the track if someone spent enough time playing with it. I may try it next time I go to the track. Maybe make a pass with everything off like I've been doing, then try using launch control, and see if I can match or better my 60' with it.

Completely stock but I wont race on the factory tires.

You can run whatever tire you want as well.

Stock is stock! Not DR's! Apples and Oranges! I'm trying to see what I can get out of the car stock in good air before I go to tires or any other upgrades. Like I said no Hellcat Charger or Challanger has run better times on the same night as me. There have been several at the tracks that I run at that can't do it.

Well you'll have a hard time getting some people to believe that. They ALL automatically run 10's with a tire.

That is so lame it's pathetic. A tire does not change a car from stock to modified. This is beyond a silly argument. We know why you want the Dodge handicapped. If the tire is a real concern then put both cars on the same type sticky. Even match, car vs car.

So go get the best you can on your stock tires. When youre ready to race me I want you at your best with no excuses for tires or track prep. If youre comparing your times to a Hellcat on crap Perellis no wonder you think youre fast. Hellcat shaves 1.5 to 2.0 on good tires. Im not gonna limit myself because bean counters said so.

From the Hellcat.org website it appears the Hellcat on stock tires are getting better 60' times than I am! What's the disadvantage in that? Of course these are times in negative DA which our cars haven't had a chance to even run in yet! Hell my 2015 ZL1 runs 11.41 in less w DA! It will barely break 12's in the air we have right now! People will find out how fast these cars are when it gets cold! I promise you it will shut a lot of them up! As for DR not changing a car to modified we can split hairs but it sure does make a big difference! I'll put DR's on mine when I'm satisfied I have run the best time possible as an off the showroom floor car! I have to be honest, I don't go check the tires on the cars running at the track to see if they are running stock tires, but none are running faster times than I am on the same night.
