I guess a "problem" is all relative to what one faces on a day to day basis

Correct that OEM assy costs 100 bucks.
I'll have to watch ebay on a used one. LOL Or just get a Mamo TB and call it a day. I thought it was only a elbow, didn't know it was some type of complicated valve. -bobby

So is it an actual valve or just a hollow plastic tube coupling?

I guess if it were hollow roto-fab would have made a replacement for it. Thinking some type of valve that's expensive to make for them.

Installed mine two days ago. Was very well packaged and the directions were very well written. Probably the most thorough instructions I've ever seen for a such a straight forward product. Also impressed that small details like a replacement hood bolt that won't cut into the weather stripping.
Overall, there is little in sound at light throttle, almost negligible. At WOT, you can hear so much more of the supercharger whine. The one thing that has me a little annoyed is partial throttle when the blower can't be heard, but sounds like someone sucking air through a straw. I wonder if this is similar to what CAI tried to resolve with their throttle body spacer? Overall, I think the Airaid intake on my 2nd gen CTS-V sounded better in all driving conditions.

Small review on my experience with the Dry Filter kit. My car is 100% stock excluding the intake.
Packaging: A+ Really really well packaged for shipping. Also appreciated that the hardware and gaskets were in a bag that was complemented for the different items. Made installation that much easier. Quality of Parts: A I was really hesitant to order because pictures don't do it justice. The box is extremely well engineered and high quality steel. I thought it was going to be cheap plastic, but it definitely has a premium feel to it. While the tubing is plastic, it is very high quality. Smooth edges and excellent finish. The small gripe is I wish this was available in carbon fiber and had the same quality to it. Installation: A It's a breeze. There were no surprises and the directions were some of the best I've ever come across. Coming from the world of aircraft maintenance, I can definitely appreciate good technical data. It still can be improved. For example, bring more attention to warnings and cautions. Also, the last section of directions needs to be broken down into multiple steps. Sound: A I was worried when people said it makes the supercharger while louder. I thought I'd be listening to it screaming at me all the time, but it's not like that at all. The intake sound went from non-existent to simply noticeable if you're paying attention. You hear it the most when you're cruising and tip into the throttle a little bit. I actually wouldn't mind it being a little louder. Performance: B **Disclaimer - My AFR in both conditions is super rich at 10ish. My car only has about 1100 miles on it and I've heard rumors that GM might have a "Break in" tune. ** Conditions -
So taking the conditions into effect, I don't think I would have picked up any significant horsepower. I think the shop lost me about 5 hp not getting a good first run in during the baseline. The baseline was warmer but had lower humidity. I'm not sure how that will change the results. Biggest difference is an instant loss of about 6-7 torque and dropping the hp within that dropped torque power band. I'm hoping that I can figure out what is going on with my AFR. I'm going to hit the dyno again in another week or so and see if it might be a break-in safety measure. So, I'm a little disappointed in the numbers, but I know those aren't everything. Also, my best run didn't log the boost appropriately, but it only picked up less than half a pound on the other runs. I got a baseline on the drag strip. Launching was rough but I was seeing consistent 123mph trap speeds. I didn't get to the track this weekend, but I should be able to make it soon. Now for what matters: Real world driving. I love it. I wouldn't swear it feels faster in the butt-dyno, but the car does feel more alive. It almost felt lazy before. The car is responding better, sounding better, and just feels all-around more aggressive. Conclusion: A- Simply put: Would I buy this product again? Absolutely |
