Any Transmission Regrets?
Still undecided on which transmission I want let alone if I want to shell out the extra money for a ZL1 vs SS or SS 1LE.
Anyone wish they went with the other transmission after driving it for awhile? I see some used with low miles and was wondering if people were buying another with the other transmission. I will never track or drag and it will not be a daily driver. Wish it was easy. |

Love the manual, no regrets what so ever...
The rev matching is useful/fun and you can turn it off... No more autos/DSG/SMG/PDK EVER for me on a sports car, had them and everytime resulted in me trading car in after 6 months... Sports car = involvement == NOT auto (as long as my left knee works)... I know it's a bad topic so my $0.02 that's all... (but after getting prematurely rid of about 5 cars with auto/auto-like transmissions, M3-SMG, M6-SMG (*2), Golf R-DSG, 911-PDK)... nothing beats manual for fun/involvement... yes it's bad for numbers and drag strip... |

I had a 2016 SS with the A8. Supercharged it, but never could get it where I wanted it. Thought about the manual, but wondered if I would get tired of having to shift. Bought the ZL1 with the new A10, with absolutely no regrets ( other than the beating I took selling the SS). There is no comparison with the A8 and the A10. It's not just the transmission, but mostly the software that is married with it. How it interacts in all conditions of driving just is perfect. I could not be happier.

I agree with wec.. My father has a 17 Grand Sport with the a8. While the car is fun to drive and very capable, the a8 just does not hold a candle to the a10. Nowhere close

I've heel and toed for over 20 years. Nowadays I'm all about lap times. DTC, PDK and A10 for me and no regrets.

m6 here and loving it. Can't beat the fun factor and connection to the car. That's what a sports car is about for me.

The adaptive programming of the A10 is the deal breaker. It's truly remarkable. |

This will be the first sports car I have bought in a long long long time with an automatic. I fought the decision a long time. Drove both transmissions back to back and had to admit the auto felt much faster. My busted left knee only helped push the decision. I am very nervous about it still because I love to row through a gearbox, but I'm going to give it a shot.

I actually went the other way then some here of getting tired with my 2016 Z06 M7 coupe after a year of ownership. I also had a 2009 C6 M6, so after 2 sticks, I thought time for an auto, especially for mostly city driving. Lucky for me I didn't take a beating for trade in on my 2016 Z06. I actually was going to buy a 2017 Z06 A8, but when I drove the ZL1 A10, I was sold on how refined it was.
Then I saw the ZL1 convertible, and I was in love with the looks and still could have my "Z06" LT4, but with a new refined A10...home run for me. I wasn't buying a track car, I was buying a fun weekend car for me and actually my first Vert. My DD is my 2016 Yukon. There will always be a debate with these kind of posts, still nice that we have a choice of tranny's on such a great beautiful Camaro! The 6 gen style won me over! Good luck in whatever you choose, don't think you could go wrong on either choice! |

I'm done with manual transmissions. My ZL1 has the A10 and I wouldn't have it any other way. My Hellcat has the M6 but this will probably be my last manual trans car ever. I wanted the A8 Hellcat but got stuck with the M6.

I learned to drive on a 3 speed stick (53 Chevy) and have driven manual transmissions for many years. There is something about the sense of involvement and control they give you. But, it's mostly an illusion. A modern automatic is smarter than you, faster than you, gives better performance and has little drive line shock. Plus you can use the paddles, if you must. I still resist buying an automatic trans, but I'm sure I will come around.

I got the a10 and am happy I did, no regrets. My daily is a manual so I don't miss it on the Camaro.
