Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S - Ride

Well I went through the stock Goodyear F1s pretty quick ...
Just put on the new MPS4S, 255 front and 285 rear, in my limiting driving so far I can't comment on grip and handling, but the ride quality if fantastic.
I didn't think I'd really notice, I was wrong.

I just did my first track day on my Firehawk Indy 500's, and am now more curious than ever how the MPS 4S's handle on the track. I am looking to get at least back to "as good" but hoping for maybe even slightly better than the stock tires. I lost almost 2 full seconds and quite a bit of consistency around a 1:25 track with the Indy's. (At least I can brag about how cheap they were, that's always a plus). I didn't realize how much I loved the stock tires until they were gone.

Had you run the same track on the stock tires?

How did the 4S's compare in terms of lap time, consistency, ability to handle heat across multiple sessions, and over all wear and tear (expected longevity)?

I've logged about 600 miles or so since we added our HRE FF04's and Michelin 4S's. They are incredibly sticky, quiet on the highway, and ride so much better than the OEM setup. It's the best all around tire for the money IMO.

I'll have to update this once I've had some track time with them installed.

assuming you have a Camaro SS set up as well, did you end up re-routing the harness? I ordered the same set up and was worried about this. I did the stock size 1LE.

I didn't mount/balance them personally, so I can't comment as to whether anything was re-routed, but I have to say the offset and fitment with our HRE FF04's is absolutely perfect. Even at stock ride height (soon to change)

first time on the track with the new car/setup so cant compare to stock but i have raced there before with my old car and these tires are awesome and can handle the speed and heat and didnt get greasy and tire pressure built up nicely but not crazy high around 3-4psi per tire per session

I feel you on this one, I have the same tires pretty good for daily driving but the grip is not the same as stock F1's. I am hoping to get something better.

I can also confirm that the 4S's are exceptional in the rain. Much better than the stock F1's IMO.

Did you get the same size as stock? Or different?

Well if they were that cheap you can just hoon it up with them until the rears are gone...then slap the fronts to the back and do a massive burnout.

If you are running stock SS tire sizes there is no need to reroute the rear harness, if you put 1LE/ZL1 width wheels/tires on a SS you will need to reroute the rear harness or else you will rub thru that harness.

This is not true... the width isn't the issue, it's the height. 1le and zl1 tires are not a problem. It's when you move up to a 35 profile with those widths. 295-35-20 is the widest 35 profile you can go without re routing. A 305-35-20 (in most brands) will require it to be re routed.
