GM CANT TRACK TUNE

Is there any tune anyone has actually tested to be not traceable by gm if you had to take your car in

Not sure if it's true or not so take this with a grain of salt...

I've heard from a few people they don't even bother to read the tunes anymore. They have a "flash" counter in the PCM and if the number of flashes doesn't match service records, they can deny a warranty claim.

So for instance, if you bought the GM CAI and had them flash/write a tune on for it, if you came back with anymore than 1 flash, they can deny you.

If you have a flux capacitor installed they can't see.

IF, just saying IF!!
If the SCT or diablo tunes got peoples warranty voided you would see it all over the forums and its not there.
I remember seeing one guy who forgot to reload stock tune get nailed.

I actually just called both companies.

SCT: The guy a spoke with didn't see that knowledgeable but wasn't sure if GM would be able to see the flash-counts or not. But felt if your programmed back to stick you'd be fine. I left the call with not a high-level of confidence.

Diablo: This gentleman stated they froze the flash-counter for their flashes and GM would only see their flashes to the PCM. This guy seemed a bit more knowledgeable and I left the call with a bit more enthusiasm for this device.

Update:
I actually went a step further and contacted a few of the retailers on this board. All were up-front and indicated if your going to tune there will always be some tell-tale sign of it. Whether its legitimate proof is always up for debate. The other noteworthy thing worth mentioning was that most tuners indicated non-significant performance gains with canned-tunes and was more about throttle response and shift-points. So right now I'm leaning towards neither the SCT or Diablo. IF and when I'm ready to tune I'll prolly do the HP Tuner route with flex-fuel as that sounds like a more significant gain.

I will side with GM borking you on this. The flash counter everyone is talking about seems like the preferred method by both GM and Ford. They arent going to dig into the tune file they will simply say its been flashed by a non-gm dealer therefor you are voided.

Who can blame GM for doing this, they arent going to lose their ass over someone who decided to mess with the tuning. I would get it in writing from Diablo or SCT. I know SCT on the 5.0's writes to the flash counter, not sure about Diablo.

Neither of those responses seem like a simple yes/no answer to me, unless I am reading your cliff notes wrong. It's a such a simple question. "Can GM techs see if the car has been tuned with "Your" device, after stock tune is reinstalled? Any elongated answer might as well be "yes" to me.
