What would you do?

Received an interesting call today from my brother-in-law, he told me he's selling his 2015 ZO6 with the ZO7 package (4000 miles), he bought new in 15'.

-I also have a 2018 ZL1 1LE on order at $68,100 plus tax...Nightfall Gray.

-We haven't discussed a price on his car as of yet, he paid $108k. He got this when they first came out, he paid sticker.

-So, which car would you want? The 18' ZL1 or the 15' ZO6/ZO7?

What is a fair price on the Vette? Is $70k to low? $75-$80? We get along very well and I don't want to piss him off. I'll look around tonight.

Thanks in advance, Tony

I assume since you've ordered a ZL1 1LE that you plan to regularly track the car. If that's the case, then I would definitely stay clear of the Z06 because of the overheating issue with the 15-16 model years. And especially if your brother-in-law's car is an automatic.

High 60s max on the '15 Z06. Start at 65K and don't go much higher. That is now a 3 model year old car at this point. This is a perfect example of why you never should pay full MSRP for any vehicle. They all depreciate like crazy.

-It is an A8, yes. Is there a simple fix for the overheating issue?
-As far as tracking it goes, no, not really. I like the uniqueness of the 1LE and might track it some after a few driving lessons, mostly just want to enjoy the car hawk.
-The car is incredible, flat out sucks though being in the passenger seat with no "oh shit" handles!

-Even with the ZO7 package zip?
I know it isn't worth anywhere near the purchase price, it's just that $65k seems low to me. I haven't done any research online as of yet.

If you plan on tracking the car, ever, do not get the ZO6, they have cooling issues when pushed.

I agree with a couple of the others, if you never plan on tracking the car, do not get the ZL1 1LE.

The other issue is that the C7 option packages pretty much have no value in the used market. So $100k Z06's don't seem to do much better than the $80k 1lz models.

C7 option? I know it has the ZO7 pack. I guess that's aero & ceramic pads.

The only easy fix to the z06 A8 overheating issue is to never take it to the track.

Street use and overheating is a non-issue.

You might want to spend some time on the Z06 section of the Corvette forum before making a decision.

I recently got rid of a C7z for a 17 ZL1. Z06 I definitely faster but everything else on the ZL1 is better other than maybe the styling which is mainly opinion. I like the C7z but if I had to pick it would be the ZL1. My two cents...
