Still waiting on my G3R's. Just got off the phone with TireRack, again, and, again, still saying 9/1 target ship date.

Nitto says they make the NT01 in 285/35R19 but I can't even seem to find any place that carries them. Granted, I haven't looked that hard but...

I've looked but couldn't find any information on their website

It looks like they're in stock here with further discount during checkout. I use this website every once in a while, their prices are not bad and delivery was on time.

I would say in terms of best lap times and the grip they are very similar with a bit different slip angles and overall driving characteristics as mentioned in the article Provoste posted (which I also posted a while ago).

The difference is the consistency, that's where the NT01 shines. After my 4th event with the RE71Rs the grip definitely suffered and the tires felt very hard. I stopped using them with the half of the treadwear on them. Whereas with the NT01s, I typically did my best lap time right before I corded them after the 10th event. My friend's experience with his C7 was the same, he did his PB right before he corded the NT01s. If you search it you will see many people share the same experience on say for instance, rennlist forums

RE71Rs are, IMO, not a "one lap hero tires" but they're not NT01s either, when it comes to predictability and overall cost. They're also not offered in 315/325s in 19" so I will most likely pass that and get the new 3Rs when the time comes

I think the reason Provoste was able to put some good lap times is because his prior experience as a driver and ability to reach the limits of a certain setup in a short period of time. That's the reason why we see great lap times with factory tires (PSS is a good example) in the hands of an experienced driver like Randy Pobst because MT only puts 2 laps when they do their testings so it gives us the false perception of they're equivalent to "X" tires.

In reality, in most cases, the real world experience differ widely because of that.
Good perspective Cem. I also wonder if Bridgestone didn't tweak the compound slightly also in the last year or so. The 295/30 20 was a SUPER late arrival in relation to other RE71R sizes. I know that at this time last year it was not released yet (I know because I was helping my dad shop tires for his GT4).

Speculation aside- I have similar experience and love for NT01's, when they have about zero tread is when they're fastest. I wouldn't say the RE71R's were as fast right before cording as an NT01, but they also never fell off a cliff grip-wise like I've experienced with the old R888.

Bottom line- if they sold an NT01 in 295/30 I'd buy it all day long, until they do... I'll stick with RE71R's on the OE wheels and keep stickier tires on the 18's.

fair enough
I have a very similar setup, Track and Track+ but both in 19" wheels. I cannot wait for the multimatics to try the 18x10.5" Apex once again..

There's also this, it's available on both 295 and 305/30/20s (for oem wheels) and they are very cheap don't have first hand experience with them though

Ah yes! I saw those as well. Old date code + 80 treadwear made me decide against from a street use perspective. Though I fully endorse someone here buying them and proving me wrong!

According to the Toyo's website, they offer R888Rs in 285/30/20 and 315/30/20 sizes. It may be a good alternative to the others on stock rims
