When upgraded plug-and-play shocks are available on the aftermarket, along with people who have real experience tuning these things via the DSC controller, there won't be a single argument for traditional coilovers

Edit: the ZL1 1LE loses like 60-80lbs just from going to forged aluminum shocks! That's not peanuts for a mostly unsprung component.
Agreed. And FYI, I run coilovers on my Audi TT, and they a far better than the stock system, but I would love to have an MRC system on the TT!

Are you sure about loosing 60-80 lbs? That's like 15-20 lb per shock savings.

I've been trying to look it up... apparently it's about 60 lbs lighter overall, but 20 lbs of that is lighter wheels. The shocks are supposed to be the larger contribution to that savings, some articles made it sound like it's all from the shocks. It's wheels, shocks and thinner rear glass combined. Still even if it's 5-7 lbs per shock... a good amount for a moving and unsprung component.

I was on sport mode 90% of the time except for the occasional canton runs, but nowadays I'm enjoying the cushy, smooth tour mode.
If I were to do it all over again, I'd still get the MRC.
Only down side is you're limited with choices when it comes to suspension modifications.

You don't need it, no. If you live in an area with roads as bad as the ones I drive on, you just have to be careful. That means taking off from a dig at the light, not a good idea here in Michigan unless you can scan the road surface ahead of you and it is relatively smooth. Also some of the roads are so patchy that it will unsettle any stiff car and give it trouble getting traction. So you really have to drive in a limited manner here in Michigan unless you want to beat up the suspension of your car.

If you have decent roads, skip MRC all together. You don't even 'need' it in Michigan but it will give a more comfortable ride which can be nice for some people. You would have to ask MRC owners how it rides on patchy roads during acceleration, if it does that well then that is also another positive.

Having it certainly gives you more adjustability than if you didn't. I notice the difference between the 2016 SS that didn't have it to my '17 ZL1 that does have it.

I think the PTM for the 1le it helps on the track , but as a DD i really dont care i tend to like it Sport and tour is not exactly cush for the 1le, I sometimes preferred my z51 suspension to magnetic ride.

Seat of the pants perspective...i think from a DD perspective(normal commuting, in and around town stuff) MRC hasn't made as much of a diff to me as much as getting rid of those GOD F-ING AWFUL OE run-flats.

I test drove both non-MRC and MRC-enabled 2SS's and didn't really notice TOO much of a diff around town, but getting rid of those damn tires into some same-size non rft rubber made an absolute WORLD of a difference. The car now rides smoother than my 2015 ATS.

I can def see the benefits how MRC is great for spirited driving tho, that's why I went with it.

What brand of tires did you end up with to replace the run- flats?

If you like hitting the corners I think its worth it. Soft on the way out to the twisty roads, then track mode for the next 2 hours while you are going fast in the corners, then back home in soft tour mode.Best of both worlds. Cadillac soft ride to stiff sports car ride.

If you can wait a month or two and they do another year end 20% off msrp deal, you will be able to get a 2ss with mrc and npp for the price of a stripped 1ss. I see no downside to MRC or NPP exhaust.
