Well after some research I think I might be biting off more than I can chew with trying to install the short throw shifter myself.

I would need to make sure I have all my ducks in a row before I attempted this. I don't have my own shop but I do have limited access to one. Keeping my down time to a minimum would be key. Not sure I want to trust my dealer locally to handle this.

Haven't abandoned this completely yet, just reassessing my abilities.

Can you give us a quick run down on what is involved in the swap?

Heath

Remove shift boot, remove trim around shifter, remove upper boot, unbolt shift plate (may require center console area to be removed to access properly), remove some link pins, support the transmission and lower it slightly after removing some brackets, remove some more pins/connectors. Reverse procedure to install new part, then once done do a gear selection relearn.

If I skipped any steps apologies. This was rundown for it.

That's it in a nutshell. I'm good with most of it, but the lowering of the tranny requires removal of the propeller shaft and that slight lowering of it presents a slight issue for me at this time.

Thanks Adam!

Need to dig a little further on the relearn as well.

I don't like the transmission lowering and the gear selection relearn. I may skip this mod.

I've been looking at this all day now and I've got a pretty good idea how to get it done. Not really sure the relearn would be absolutely necessary, the sensor involved doesn't appear to be affected, but the tranny lowering would definitely help. It's all making sense to me now. Sometimes it takes me a while to visualize everything. As long as I wouldn't have to disconnect from the engine (which isn't mentioned) this might be doable.

Welcome. And yeah I was looking at it during lunch. You're onto something. Might not have to do the gear relearn.

And it's a job that's for sure. If you decide to tackle it. Let us know how it goes. And how big a difference the new shifter presents.

Someone on the forum said that it wasn't that big of a difference. I would like to try one in person, though.
