What To Upgrade Next For More Power

Hello everyone,

I think my suspension is finally finished with all the BMR parts and the DSC v2 controller. I am now looking into the power side of things. I have a ported throttle body and a Rotofab intake. I'm most likely going to supercharge my vehicle but was curious if there is anything else I should get first. I was particularly looking into headers and my only concern is keeping the NPP functional.

If you are going with a supercharger/FI, I would look at long tube headers and high flow cats/no cats. You can keep the NPP with a few of the options out there, but they will need to cut the exhaust to install.

I would not do E85 flex fuel and tuning if you plan on the SC. You'll most likely max out the fuel system capabilities with both and require a fuel system upgrade.

I need to figure out which long time headers to go with. Is there any general knowledge that would assist me with making that decision ?

I used the ARH "long system" without CATs. It will take the system with 3-inch tubing all the way back to the NPP muffler. The stock exhaust is cut about a foot before the muffler and it attaches nicely there.

I always go against the grain on these types of questions.

If you're sure your going the supercharger route, then dive right in with this first with your choice of any of the basic SC packages out there and use the included supplied tune. This will be the most expensive piece of equipment you will "add on" and I recommend doing it exactly as specified by the supercharge manufacturer. Running it a while gives you time to sort out any issues that may show up and the kit manufacturer will be on the hook to help correct issues.

I know it's tempting to jump right in with easy mods, but if you go with something like headers, then you will need a custom tune for your new SC and you introduce another third party variable. And BTW, headers aren't really needed until you start climbing above 650ish rwhp. TooHighPSI, a site member, is making over 700 rwhp on a stock exhaust system.

I'm going on 16 months with my basic E-Force setup with nary a hiccup. I very confident that when I start adding mods, the base system is sound.

I didn't even think of that, that's a good thought process.

I'm old enough now to have made enough mistakes over the years to finally learn from those same mistakes. Geez, the money I've burned through on this hobby is embarrassing.

Honestly, with 560 rwhp, I have more than enough power to keep me entertained for quite a while. I've quit chasing horsepower and I'm building this car up to a package that meets my goals. Some suspension work and a little clean-up work on the supercharger this winter and I'm done.
