On a side note, for everyone that buys Kooks because ARH is more expensive--YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

Lol. Actually I paid 3k for the full exhaust (headers, hiflo cats, and 3 inch exhaust) which I'm guessing is pretty close in price. Unless I overpaid.. sounds awesome though

I don't think anyone is fussing over $200 dollars if paying retail directly from the vendors site. You buy what you like. I have had both, both are high quality, both fit well. Always use a GM gasket!

American Racing

$3,481.75

Kooks
$3283.38

Oh gosh, I am really hoping your troubles come to a close and that you will soon be able to enjoy your car. After all you have been through some trouble free miles will feel like heaven.

Surprised to hear about the Kooks, that is the first time I have heard of any issues with their product. I wonder if this is exclusive to the 2"?

It's not the header, It's the junk gasket they included. I send my headers out for install. I would have catch the bad fit, BUT some PPL just slam it together.
And, there is NO gaskets available (well, OEM) Kook has not answered my Email.
So If they have a problem with 2" gaskets, They still have a problem.
I'm making smoke today. I'll fix RH side, burn gas, then send it in to replace the fender. I'll fix the LH side later

TOP: OEM......Kooks......Backyard hack 101.

I installed Kooks on my 2013 Camaro. I used OEM gaskets because I was told that the Kooks ones were crap. So nothing has changed, good headers, crap gaskets.

I used GM gaskets with my headers as well. Is hard to beat OEM gaskets. I'm glad to hea you aren't having lifter issues Brett.

Not discounting lifter problem yet!
Install my home made gasket on RH header. Only to find that rear header flange bolt is cross threaded. I attempted to correct, however head remove is the only right way to repair. So I reinstalled the crooked bolt......wtf.
It is quieter, but still have a TICKING noise. Now I have to go back and eliminate coil wire snap. After that, It is going to the dealer. There is a service bulletin on the DOD lifters. So it will be up to my dealer. NO PROBLEM either way, just fix it.
I'm getting real tried of this thing.

On a side note: I have figured out the root of the problem.
I always thought my EX-wife was a witch. I bought this car after I threw her out and divorced her. She must have put a spell on it....LMAO.

Can you tell exactly what is wrong with the design of the Kooks gaskets?

I've not had good luck with Kooks and that's part of why I advise against them typically. Some people get mad at me for that, but I've got that through personal experiences. They don't seem to make power as well as the others either.

I'm sure you know this, but our engine makes a tick with headers. You lose the shield to take the sewing machine ticking sounds of thenDI injectors away. I'm sure you know that, but just wanted to mention it in th vent you didn't know.

You can some what hear it in this idle clip. When my hood is open you can hear it more, and I can hear it in the cab of the car as well.
