Bitching about price, really? There is a cost today to do business. Between the R&D, distribution expenses all being offset by sales numbers they try to reach a balance that makes it worth their time. At the end of the day you have two choices, pay and enjoy what it offers, or spend your money elsewhere.

Some keep saying R&D??
Sizing mufflers to fit is not R&D

Exactly.

Any R/D considerations in regards to producing a cat back offering has been the same since the beginning of automobiles....layout, attachment to cats, pipe sizing, material choice, muffler selection, fitment, sound etc.. The only thing arguably "new" on SOME of the gen 6 camaro is integration of NPP functionality.

Sizing the end stubs isn't R&D. Sizing the case and sizing/locating the details on the inside to come up with the desired sound and reasonably low restriction is.

Buy CA Performance test pipes and mate them to the stock npp exhaust, you'll be glad you did and for $400..... not to mention you gain a few ponies

If you think Borla only sized mufflers as R&D then don't spend your money on it. All of the competitors that drone like a mofo only "fit mufflers" in place. Read the forums, you will see people trying to save $$, buy the cheaper cat back systems, then complain and try to sell them because they fit like crap or have unbearable drone. Somehow Borla got it all 100% right, perfect fit, no drove, amazing sound, quality stainless, very descriptive instructions, great warrant and customer service. Never have I ever seen someone who bought a Borla system want to return it. Man they must have just gotten lucky.

Yeah, just when I think I want something different, I think about the price and the fact that any aftermarket NPP uses the same crappy OEM valves that will end up rattling.

Ditto. I have magnaflow on the 350z. Only paid $700 for the full cat back, granted that was a decade ago.

No disrespect to borla or anyone who's running them, but the tone wasn't deep enough for my tastes. Flowmaster American thunder + kooks headers + kooks catted connection pipes = the v8 sound i was looking for.

That's why my car has all these mods and stock exhaust lol. I'm not paying those prices for a catback. To each there own though.

You guys should check out how much an Akrapovic exhaust setup costs, or something of similar quality... Borla seems to try and produce quality products for a still reasonable price. If you really don't care about drone, fit, weight, craftsmanship, etc... just buy some mufflers and have a shop weld them on. It'll be cheap and you'll get some natural V8 growl. In terms of performance, the engine won't care what type of materials are being used or how much drone there is at part throttle - it's just a pipe in the end.

I've asked David Borla to consider selling part #'s 55940 & 55941. They delete the secondary cats while maintaining the 2.75" stock diameter of our SS exhaust. They are currently not available separately.

I'm very happy with the stock NPP but would like to add a bit more "basso profondo" that this mod reportedly provides.

Perhaps if more C6 members expressed an interest he could be persuaded and it shouldn't be quite as expensive as some other exhaust options- while still providing plenty of room for a profit.

See post #93 for more info on these parts- http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showth...=492077&page=7

Let's work together guys... maybe a group buy?

I'm surprised no one from Borla has chimed in yet
