Anyone in Canada buy the GM Intake in the US and take it to dealer here in Canada? Will they tune it?

So a dealer has an OEM part where it specifically states that labor for the tune flash is to be charged to a GM PO number and they can't figure it out? I'd be willing to bet they aren't following the instructions that came in the box. If dealers were run by GM you'd be done by now.

Yes there is a gain. Just needs to be measured on a dyno yet.

Airflow tables are rescaled with higher frequency readings than the stock air box. More air = more fuel = more power.

I had the same experience as the OP. Installed the GM intake kit myself then took it to the dealer for the calibration, with the installation instructions showing that the calibration was included in the cost of the kit and the Labor code for the dealer to charge to. The service advisor called me later stating they had called the GM phone number on the installation instructions and could not get confirmation that they could use the Labor Code. Wanted to charge me $115 for the flash. I told them no, I'd call GM about it (haven't had time to do that yet)

Dealers shouldn't charge for this. It's specifically stated in the instructions of the kit.

" This kit includes a calibration update for the Engine Control Unit. Reprogramming is done with a Service Programming System at an Authorized GM Dealer. When reprogramming, the GM dealer needs to call the Techline Customer Support Center (TCSC). The TCSC will provide a Vehicle Configuration Index (VCI). The VCI is good for only one specific Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Call TCSC to obtain a VCI number. United States 1-888-337-1010 Canada (English) 1-800-828-6860 Canada (French) 1-800-503-3222. You must have the vehicle's VIN that will be upgraded and the Authorization Code provided at the bottom of the first page of this instruction sheet.
Note: The cost of reprogramming is included in the cost of this kit. The dealer is instructed to charge the reflash to Labor Code 0601558"

It's not hard to do, but techs usually hate calling in to any tech line since it takes forever to do it.

At this point I'd avoid this intake altogether. GM did do hundreds of hours designing and testing an intake and it's already on the car when you receive it. Until I see a positive dyno and get confidence in a dealer then it's Roto Fab or stock for me.

Lots of misinformation/rumors/etc gets spread on this forum, and on CAI threads especially.

I have the GM CAI, "tuned" by my dealer AND GM even paid my dealer even though I installed it myself. Does it make more power? I would bet money on it that mine does (but I didn't dyno it prior to install so no proof - but I'd yank it off and trash it if I didn't think it did). More than Rotofab's? No idea and I won't speculate (like some others) because I haven't used theirs and know nothing about it.

Bottom line, I'm happy with it, and that's all that matters to me! And I would recommend it to anyone considering one.

I would bet money it makes as much gain as the Rotofab and with tune probably more. I'd like to see a dyno challenge with GM CAI versus Rotofab on a supercharged car since the Rotofab showed big easily measurable gains there.
