Track insurance
Who do you go through? I checked with my broker, and he said the only company they deal with is Hagerty, and it's $475 per session for up to 3 days (but you can't spread it across 3 separate days.) Adding another $475 per track session onto the track cost seems like a huge kick in the nuts. Is this way out of whack, or are you guys paying that kind of money?

Check the track that you will be going on, any good management most likely will have a company there that offers day/event insurance. Even if they do not, they will know of a company that they refer to for it. It is NOT cheap. A couple hundred bucks for a day is usually the average price but 100% worth it as regular insurance does NOT cover jack that happens on track.

Yeah, I figured a couple of hundred, almost $500 just seemed like a lot.

Yeah, location, event, the tract itself (history of idiots mainly) etc are all factors. Last time I checked with a local-ish track (about 2.5 hours) it was $325 for a day. $500 is a bit much but factors...

I have been paying around $250-$300 a day based on 10% deductible and $40K value.

+1 that is who I used and they even sent a follow up email the day after the event to see if I needed to file a claim (well it was really to sell me another policy when the need arose but they will not take your money & disappear)

Another vote for RLI.
I have used Lockton for 5 years before a friend told me about RLI. I pay about 40% less for the same event in the same car. https://www.rlicorp.com/track-day

Have any of you ever ran without getting the track insurance?
Do you think most do without? |

See prior post at end. There are two types...
Father was CEO of insurance company, I spent an hour otp going over this. Protecting yourself and assets more important than your car, especially if your older... http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=493536 |

BTW there are companies which insure race cars. They take effect only while at a track and not public roads. They usually cost about the same as regular insurance and are valid for a whole season. Seems much more cost effective vs rates per day/event, which are ridiculous IMO. |
