I haven't had one real competitive sports car want to play yet, but I honestly don't get to drive mine as much as most of you as my daily driver is a 3/4 ton truck with 290k that goes through at least 35gals a day all over the border region down here...I mostly get what I take are enthusiasts who recognize the camaro for what it is & this has been from nicer fixed up 1/2 ton trucks down this way which is the rage.

They just give a smile & rev / jump...they just want to see the car giddy-up is all as that is what I used to do too when I wanted to see a fast set of wheels 'go'. I'll play if it's all safe & simply stay bumper to bumper with them at first & if it's ok let her rip. They really do appreciate it if I can oblige.

It's the few motorcycle / crotch rocket guys that really haunt / stalk me into the parking lots...just wish more Camaro guys would do the same. I get the cold shoulder from most which I think is weird. Vette guys of all kinds seem more friendly. The rio grande valley is kinda weird.

every 7000 lb turbo diesel with 18 wheeler smoke stacks and an 8 inch lift...seriously they really believe it has a chance.

i've played with competitors though:
audi s7 TT
2015 Z/28 (we stopped to chat, he said he never been walked by a car with a car seat in the back)
couple of 6 gen stangs
a BMW M6
cayenne turbo s

most of the true competitors are cool and we usually roll down the windows and chat at the lights. i had one stang i walked (before vortech) that seemed to be pissed and tried to block me in behind a grandma at the light, but mostly you give a thumbs up after play time.

I get plenty of play here in Parker, CO

Don't ever try to race a Tesla Model S. If they have the high output motor/battery pack and have ludicrous mode engaged (true drive mode: Elon Musk has a sense of humor and loved Spaceballs), 0-60 is under 3 seconds. Fastest production car in the world.

My air conditioning guy said he could beat me in his truck. I offered to give him a quick ride in the ZL1. I don't think he will be saying that again. Turned kind of white...

A properly driven STI is quite fast right off the line, and anything other than a perfect launch on good tires for the Camaro probably means the STI will stay just a nose ahead until perhaps 60-70. And then it'll be like he hit the brakes

But ... most people don't really know how to drive, or are unwilling to thrash their car for the perfect AWD launch. I've done it a few times over the years and it does make me giggle a bit, but from a roll of any kind there's just nothing about 305 hp that is fast.

I kinda would like to keep my Subaru but my wife takes two spots to fit her pickup in the garage and the fourth spot is my workshop, so it would have to live outside. And it's too expensive to keep around as a winter beater anyway. Maybe I'll go get an old 2.5RS. Had one once, those are not fast but it sure did make me smile a lot.

Oh this one is easy, as I will never forget the baby blue vw bug that pulled up next to my built 68 camaro at a red light in Stockton Ca at 1am. He revved it a little, I wound it up to 4500rpm and bam the light turns green.....and I watch him pull wheelies in 3 gears, as he left my high 11 sec car sitting like a lead brick.

Sunday an older guy pushing 70 In his c6 corvette convertible. Mind you my 2016 SS only has 650 miles and not broken in yet, so I'm not going to race anyone no matter what. I decided to play along with the fella and make him believe I was up to it. He looks over at me, and I look over at him. He revs his engine, I rev mine. When the light changes he darts out like a bat out of hell. Tires squealing, smoke everywhere. I took my silly old time as I'm in no rush. Yeah, he left me in the dust. Oh well...I can only imagine the story he told all his old buddies afterwards.
