I agree! I've never driven a manual car with one of those plastic ball type shift knobs, but it seems like it would get slippery after doing a bunch of shifting on a road course or even drag racing where you can't run AC.

To each his own. I love my Hurst & ball knob, doesn't feel slippery. I didn't like the crappy stock shifter at all.

You guys should go drive a stock C5 shifter/knob. This setup rocks!

The factory shift knob is not all fast in the Furious. Just out of curiosity man how old are you I'm thinking the really has to be some sort of an age Gap. I've seen guys slap these types of shift knobs on 60s and 70s cars but not a 2017

Yeah basically. Seems the younger crowd wants a leather/suede covered chrome trimmed fancy-pants shifter with LED lights & Bluetooth. Us older guys have been using a round ball knob for a long time. It pivots in your palm unlike the stock shaped knob, and the ball is not slippery. If you like these, getting the right diameter is important, so you can wrap your hand around it. I like 2-1/8" diameter. For those of you who have never driven a stick with a plain old ball knob, you don't know what you're missing. It's a feeling thing more than an aesthetic.

Well said.

1st mod I did to my '16 C7 M7 was swap out the stock shifter for a MGW flat stick with the black ball shifter. That was probably the sweetest shift set-up I've ever driven.

I keep holding out hope that MGW will do their flat sticks for the Gen 6.

Youre right about the age gap, us older guys grew up with round shift knobs for the most part, we are used to how they look and feel.

But regardless that stock shift knob on the SS's is just awful, GM could have did better than that IMO.
