Get a plate kit from amazon, you want to attach with a screw retainer, not a self tap into the plastic, that will strip /loosen over time.

I took the mounting plate of my Mercedes that I traded in and use that. Plate stays about 1/4 inch off the paint. Then added a carbon fiber frame , Looks pretty dam good. You can alway get some cabinet bumpers from Home Depot to keep the tag from rubbing on the paint also
