Short and sweet. Flew out of Destin to Austin this afternoon, got to Austin at 4:00, got to Don Hewlett at 5:00. Took 1.5 hrs to get the paperwork done . But we did. Left there at 7:00pm. Was going to stay in Round Rock but once I got in the car and started driving I thought lets hit 290 back towards Destin and just stop wherever. Well wherever ended up being in Beaumont TX around 11:00 pm. Three hotels clumped together, all sold out ! WTF is happening in Beaumont last night ? lol

So the car is running so great ! I think I got a Wednesday/Thursday car lol.

No headliner issue, no paint issues, steering wheel is dead on nuts straight I mean damn first GM car I bought that was spot on right ! I did have a irritating slight buzz at first in the dash that I found was the chrome bezel on the driver side AC vent. It was not "clicked" all the way in. Pushed it, buzz gone.

So after the hotel deal I said F**k it. I will drive all night back, 751 miles.

Got back at 6:10 am.

1. I varied RPM as much as possible. Especially on 290 for the first 100 miles.

2. I sold a C5 Z06 with all the bolt on's and a 100 shot to buy this car. TQ below 4K is so strong even in 6th gear in this car I know the ZL1 would take it.

3. It's going to take awhile to even explore all the settings etc. on this thing

4. We are lucky the gas guzzler tax is only 1300 lol(on the M6) 751 miles 2 full tanks and a 1/3rd. 20 miles exactly on the interstate at 85-95.

Awesome car !! Once I clean up all the frigging bugs off of it I will post some picks.

Wish I'd have known! I've got family in Orange, about 20 miles east of Beaumont. You passed through it on I-10, but doubt you remember it! lol! They could have put you up for the night!

Of course you could return the favor next summer in Destin! lol!

Anytime ! I have lines on many places to stay here !

I saw the Orange sign lol. I contemplated stopping at a couple of more exits but
then I thought hell its going to be after midnight once I get checked in and have to check out by 10 so just drive ! Its been years since I drove an all nighter !!

It was a great drive !

I try to make a few each month. Emerald Coast Cars & Coffee at Santa Rosa Mall in Mary Esther, 0900 2nd Saturday of the month. Pensacola Cars & Coffee at Bayou 15 Movie Theater (5149 Bayou Blvd, Pensacola), 0800 4th Saturday of the month. Both are near a Starbucks if you need a morning jolt, I'm a Mountain Dew fiend so no coffee for me.

I'm also part of a very small group that meets at Santa Rosa Mall at 1000 on the 3rd Sunday of the month, American made only, usually cruise somewhere for lunch around 1200.
