Screw in tire!

Came home today and pulled my car in the garage. Noticed a screw in the rear passenger tire, basically at the very end of the top of the tire, right near the sidewall. Brought it in before, they won't repair it since it is too close to the sidewall, had to order anothrper GY A3 tire, will be here tomorrow, so I am stuck with a loaner until tomorrow, didn't want to risk anything else happening so I left is and took the loaner...it is what it is, just annoyed!

I had the exact same thing happen to me this morning! Lucky for me it was in the center so they patch/plugged it but I had to call three places before I found one that would fix a run flat. Ridiculous!

Wow, lucky for you! My dealer would have fixed the tire, but way too close to the sidewall. That is crazy that nobody would fix runflats.

from the tire manufactures is anything in the outer tread block on either side is in the non-repairable zone.

I just found a nail myself yesterday! I'm going to take it tomorrow to get looked at for a patch. Otherwise I'm just going to replace all 4 with Michelin's since they've got 15k on them. Do you guys think this is too close to the sidewall? I'm hoping to get it patched and get a few more thousand miles out of the tires.

That might be ok....and take an internal patch/plug. The patch needs to attach to a flat spot in the tire, not on the curve.

That is the no-go zone for a patch/repair with any reputable shop since it is in the outer treadblock.

Got the car back late this afternoob, all fixed with a new tire...not too bad, $430 for tire, mount, balance and tax. The dealer matched Tire Racks price.

I had this happen twice on my C6 and switched all 4 to non runflats...cheaper, better ride and handling, less noise, and more repairable. Honestly what good are runflats?

I found a screw in 1 rear Goodyear and a piece of metal in the other one this spring. Went with 4 new Michelin PS4, 2 on rear to replace the problem tires, 2 on front to keep the balance of the car. For the use I'm going to put the car, I would not feel comfortable with patched tires.

Just to update.... Nail too close to sidewall. I purchased wheel and tire protection when I bought the car, so that tire is being replaced for free and I'm buying a second rear so I have matching tires. Guess Michelin's will have to wait a little longer.

That sucks, but at least you were covered with the protection. I too want the new PS 4S tires, but don't know if I want to go non run flat, but then again the runflats were really a waste in this case, but they are nice if you are on a road trip and being able to drive for 60 miles or so on an issue tire is nice.

BTW love the user name, Mets fan here too!
