Pressing clutch doesn't disengage cruise...thank you Chevy!

I have only ever driven manual transmissions and every one has always disengaged cruise control when you press the clutch in to switch gears. My SS is the first car I have ever driven that does NOT disengage the cruise control. This is a very welcome feature. Why you may ask would someone want to switch gears while maintaining the same speed......well today I drove my 2015 Jeep Wrangler with 290 HP up interstate 70 through the Colorado Rockies. I set my cruise control at 65MPH but since the highway climbs huge grades of 6-8% that last 3-5 miles in certain stretches my jeep just doesn't have the power to maintain 65MPH without switching from 6th gear down to 5th, 4th and even 3rd. This constantly cuts the CC and makes it even harder to maintain your speed. When I drive my SS up I-70 I can set the CC at 65 and occasionally shift down from 6th to 5th to maintain speed and not disengage the CC. This is a very simple and useful feature for those of use that use "cruise" in mountainous areas. Has anyone else noticed this and do you appreciate it? Does anyone else know of other manual transmission vehicle that do this? I do not....

It was tough to adjust to the fact that it didn't disengage the CC since that is what I was used to as well, but now I really like that convenience.

Yes, GM actually introduced that feature on the 2014 C7 Vette (maybe eariler?) and I liked it a lot.

I actually miss having that on my Z/28.

It's not fun if you push the clutch in coming up on some traffic to slow down a little, gear down and when you release it you speed up again.....

Good point. But, wouldn't you be braking in that scenario or are you just wanting to use the engine to slow your speed as would normally happen in car that does not have that feature?

Yeah, I noticed this a few days into ownership and was surprised. Here in flat country it doesn't mean much either way, but can certainly appreciate it for the drivers in hill country. I have benefited only when hitting my cruising speed in 5th and then setting it, then later moving into 6th. Nice to have the CC stay on.

Yes. Use the engine to slow down a little before you have to brake. Sometimes that is enough for the traffic or light to change

I love this feature with the tall 6th when downshifting for hills. What I miss is a cancel button. I hate displaying brake lights to cancel cruise.

On ours the middle button just simply turns cruise feature off, or on.

Yes it is. He's not the only one to have initially thought there was no cancel, though; my dad did it, too.

A cancel button cancels cruise control but keeps the set speed in memory where it can quickly be reset with the resume button. Gen6 has no such cancel button. The center button turns cruise off altogether. Once cancelled using that button there is no way to resume the previous set speed except to turn cruise back on and set a new speed from scratch. The only cancel button in Gen6 is the brake pedal. IMO one of the few unfortunate steps backwards, and one that's hard to understand.
