All the new tech engines make more power than old tech, Im driving a V8 that makes more power than many of the original ponycars.
The problem is you are driving a V6 with a lot less power than the new V8 pony cars.
Quit comparing your new technology engine to old technology V8s and compare it to new technology.
The new tech is cool and the new V6s are fun, but the V8s are more fun

If the domestic brands stop building V8s , one could always turn to the imports , as long as they keep building them , she Malé as that

Pretty sure that's the most unreliable hybrid there has been.

the thread is about a hypothetical future where v8's are phased out. Smaller engines will continue to improve in performance. The i4 already can be tuned and get 0-60 times less than half a second behind the lt1. A twin turbo v6 would be up there as well. They'll only get better as time goes on. Until they're phased out for electric. And electric can be as neck breaking as the rubber on your tires can physically be made to handle.

Nobody will miss the v8 except the same people who can't let go of manual transmissions or cds. They certainly wont miss them because of performance.

Agree , but only if the manufacturers will somehow make the V6s or even the EVs come up with a Push On/OFF stereo system that can make the sound and feeling of the V8 , at least inside the cabin , that's not a too far fetch dream , since some of them already do that to some extent

I agree electric has huge performance potential
But you compared a new V6 to an old V8, The new V8s make more power than you new V6.
A tuned LT1 is considerably faster than a tuned I4.
Im not against V6s I like all motors, I have a 540CI 6 that makes over 4000 hp on 300psi boost.
You cant compare your new V6 to old V8s and make the New V8s cool factor go away.

I'm just curious

It's not my only car. I wanted a 50th Anniversary Camaro SS to replace the 1999 Z28 that I sold to make room in my garage. Once the Camaro is paid for, I'll replace my current daily driver with something else and hang on to the Camaro.

My great great grandkids can chauffeur me around in a hybrid when I'm dirt old, drooling from the mouth and don't no any difference... until then, give me that SS growl any freaking day of the week!

Just reading some of the things you were saying Rusty and I just wanted to point it one small fact you're driving a 5th gen Camaro SS which is significantly slower than a 6 gen SS in fact it's very close to the six cylinder that's offered in the 6th gen at least as far as 0 to 60 your car is dated and heavy bro no need to keep on talking smack about to six cylinder is when you drive like an old model. Technology is king that's why your car is so much slower than the new ones.

Mark my words man it won't be long before a turbo 4 cylinder walks all over the 5th gen SS it's just going to take a bigger Turbo they can add that a lot easier than you can drop the weight needed to make your car fast.

Also speaking of "COOL FACTOR" how is that AUTOMATIC treating you bro?

i have no idea.it could be googled however,im just thinking that technology for alternative engines will advance in the near future.hydrogen burns very cleanly and powerfully(look what it did for the hindenburg)edit.the company i work for is currently running over 100 tractor trailers powered by CNG,im sure they wouldnt have invested such a large amount of money unless they intended to get it back in the near future.

is it really a problem for me?i hardly ever go over 100 anymore, having grandkids slowed me up.ive had my share of fun, back in the 70s and 80s if you couldnt find a street race there was something wrong with you.now you are really likely to be looking at felony charges if you get caught having too much fun.i will pass on that.
