Thanks glad you enjoyed it. I saw the OPs video on youtube. Now grant it pick any youtube video in the world and the comments are filled with negativity and people talking quite literally out their ass but damn. The level of stupidity is unreal. I just choose not to deal with it. The world is full of talkers. Not a lot of doers and arguing with a child just makes you look like one. Thus I mostly stay away from it. Every once in a while I will engage though.

Very cool video of the ZL1 and the Ford GT.
I tried to buy a Ford GT the first year it came out back around 2002 I think.
My local dealer had a white and black one on the floor and the msrp was supposed to be 140 I think. I offered to pay it and he said he was going to auction the car to the highest bidder.
Pissed me off and I bought a Ferrari 550. Never regretted it. A great car but a pain in the ass to maintain. So many tow truck hauling to the dealer and service bills that could buy a new car sometimes.
I drove and tracked the car for 14 years. Let me tell you, no matter how much money you have, you do not want to see your car crashed or scratched. The more expensive and exotic it is, the more of a pain in the ass it is to maintain and to fix correctly when it is needed. After a while they are just more trouble than the enjoyment they give you and that is why the average miles on exotics are 3000 miles per year. Selling them is real pain too. Ford GT for almost 500K, definitely not worth the hassle to own it.

Thats why I sold my F car four years ago and am taking delivery of a new ZL1 iLE very soon.
Almost as fast and i can take it to the local chevy dealer to be fixed and no big deal when it breaks. Its a no brainer. Best speed for the bucks. It is faster than the mid priced McLaren and I think will hold its own against the Mercedes GTX and the Porsche 911 GT3 and is 1/3 the price and easier and cheaper to fix. Its a bargain in my book if it live up to the reports I have been reading and if it holds up.

Regarding appreciation. Look at what a 69 camaro ss396 sells for now and its original price.
I had a Boss 302 in 1970 also that I bought new for 3200 bucks. Look at the prices now. Insane, no way I would pay that for that car. Nor the Cobra.
Get any great high performance car and with limited production numbers and keep it and you have a winner if you live long enough to sell it.
Once we see the production numbers for the ZL1 1LE if we see numbers under 750 you could see some serious appreciation unless they come out with someting so much better no one will want the first version. We will know in a few years.
Sure maybe a Ford GT may be worth 1-2 M in 5-10 years but you will not be driving it after it doubles in price. You worry too much about wrecking it. Once you wreck it you lose a lot of value. My best friend had a pristine F40 and we drove it for a couple of years and after that it never left the garage. Too valuable to risk wrecking.
Chevy is kicking some serious ass now in performance and as long as the build quality is there we can be riding a real wave of nice cars.
Back in the late 60's I was tracking 66 427 SC Cobra and when the 70 Corvette ZL!1 came out we sold the cobras and raced the corvettes. They kicked the cobras ass back then.
Chevy seems to be on a streak like that again I think.
Just my humble opinion.
Anyway, fro what I saw on the video, the ford had the advantage on the straight aways and the camaro caught him every time on the short tight parts with more aggressive driving with deeper entry points.

Killing it! Errrr meh gerd do I love me some ACR. It breaks my heart 2017 is the last year. Only thing I would miss is the supercharger whine. It would be really great if you had a ZL1 1LE to get your opinions between the two. I know the ACR is faster but for half the price you have to wonder how close the 1LE would be/ feel to regular drivers.

Can you explain to me how you are getting the video from inside the cockpit and how you are getting the display down in the lower left of the video showing the speed, throttle, break and sometimes I see on some engine oil temp?

thanks

Was just checking out your Aim solo dl and smarty cam.
Did you install it all yourself or did you have a place that installs this stuff in your car.
Very nice.
It would be nice to have this in my new Camaro as well as on my Ducati.
Are there places that could do the install? I am in Florida.
thanks

Great video, Thanks for posting.

Lots of variables there, many of them we will never know the truth. But still...HAD to be tough to see a $60K Camaro in your mirror and you are unable to shake it. LOL.

Excellent video in the ACR. Just in case anyone is wondering a 1:57 at VIR full is insanely fast. Guys in Z06s with full slicks are 2:00ish. You would feel like you are driving with your hair on fire and he would leave you for dead!

I remember the days when I used to pass slow drivers in fast cars, and I bragged about it too. But that's old hat now since doing real spec racing (in momentum cars) when the cars are equal and it comes down to who the faster driver is.

At any rate, the Ford GT driver was coasting through the turns. And in my humble opinion, a well driven Spec Miata could have passed them both.

I've found that the more I care about becoming a better driver (and worrying less about that car I'm in) the more fun I have at the track.

To each his own, though.

Cheers, guys!

Soooo the driver of this Camaro was cracking off a 1:57 in a Viper ACR on the VIR full course which is basically the lap record there in that car. And you think a 125 (ish) rwhp Miata spec racer is gonna tear into him??? Your humble opinion is wrong….like really really wrong.

For reference the SPEC Miata VIR full course record stands at 2:18. I run faster than that in my Hellcat with stock Pirelli Summer tires and I'm no pro.

Your opinion is simply wrong. I did a 2:19 in my miata at vir, setup exactly like a spec miata suspension and all stock engine and rollbar only, i run it in tte nasa , this lap above was an hpde at vir that you can see i got held up in "hog pen". Spec miata lap record for nasa on the chicane course at mid ohio is 1:45 i think at mid ohio and scca i believe is 1:43. Those are full race motors and very prepaired with top spec miata drivers which are no joke. I know some of them well. As i stated in the comments of the video when i posted it is that this was both drivers with the cars at the track, no testing not practicing nothing, just going out and getting used to the car. I did get the car down to a 1:39.2 in the 2nd or 3rd run. Which i think at mid ohio is pretty good for a large car on street tires. Mid ohio is very technical and not friendly to larger cars like vir or road atlanta. I do agree that having fun in any car is what is important, people laugh sometimes that i have an acr and miata. Also have a challenger scat pack i track some, and have had numerous bmw's.

So you're only 4 seconds quicker in your ZL1 vs a Spec Miata; exactly my point. You're dragging ass in the turns, and the Ford GT was dragging even more ass.

I'm not trying to insult you. You're just proving my point.

Equal drivers in both the ZL1 and the Ford GT and the GT will walk away with ease. That's why these types of videos are misleading to the layman.
