Now this works, as long as there are never any rear seat (human) passengers. 👍🏻

This statement implies you are of an "older" and "wiser" generation which makes this thread even more perplexing

Using your '67 GTO as an example of why you don't need headrests
My question was when did headrests become standard. My 67 had none but my 69 did. And three point belts were when? 75? Going to fast I guess.

This is a terrible idea. Those headrests are there to prevent whiplash- get rear ended without one and you could seriously injury your neck

I hope your health insurance is good. This is almost as stupid as removing the seatbelts for weight savings.....

Keep the "younger generations" out of your mouth. I don't know anyone my age (22) who would be stupid enough to remove the headrests and neglect using mirrors.

I hope this guy is just a troll

There is no rearward visability issues. The only visabiilty issue are at the A Pillars and lots of cars now have that thick slanted pillar that prevents a clear view of the corners.

driven the car for over year. Haven't had visibility issues. Dont need to turn around and take my eyes off the road in front of me.

I dont know, maybe i'm a superhuman. I'll just go with that.

btw, i wouldn't want to be the guy who removes their headrests, gets whiplash, and then has to pay for that out of pocket because they intentionally removed safety devices in the car specifically to combat that. I mean it's not like whiplash is common (especially in accidents of yesteryear) ...right?

You may not have an issue with the visibility but in the Camaro it is highly restricted. You can't have a high belt line and slammed roof and not have less visibility.

In the industry mirrors are call indirect vision. Many people, including me and anyone who rides a motorcycle have learned to count on "direct" vision. A head check is an absolute must when riding.

So cool if you are comfortable driving your Camaro using mirrors and sensors. There are still many people that don't want to give up the good old head turn. And if you do that for your right quarter you get a tiny porthole (even smaller than a Gen5 if you can believe it) and a whopping giant b and c pillar.

All that being said, removing your headrests is a very unsafe solution.
