Keep in mind that the TPMS does not measure the psi instantaneously. I'm not sure just how often it updates, But you do have to drive it a bit until the readings update.

The learning tool is about the size of a pack of cigarettes, and can usually be bought for around $40-50.

Or, my local dealer will re-learn my sensors for free in about 5 min, no appointment needed, no cost at all. Just drive in, get'r done, drive away.

Bought my relearn tool on E Bay...made in China of course. IIRC $39 and a few bucks for shipping. Worked PERFECTLY the first try.

My nearest Chevy Dealer is 40 miles away. And they are bums. Didn't buy my car from them either. Which seems to be an issue with them. Easier to do it myself.

Thank you all. This has been very helpful & informative. And since I will be doing rotations from now on, purchasing the tool will pay for itself. Thanks again.

Correct me if I'm missing something, but I don't think relearning the TPMS positions is going to correct any offset between the sensor and your gauge.

I'm not being a partypooper, just have one that reads 2-3 psi low myself (per my gauge and dealer's gauge), and was curious if there was any "fix".

The OP's difference is between the reading of his TPMS on the DIC and his air pressure gauge.

If the OP is placing his air pressure gauge on the left front tire and taking a reading and then comparing it to a DIC reading for the left front tire that is actually coming from the right front tire because the dealer made a swap and didn't re-learn the new position to the car, it could.

Mine too. My gauge reads 2 lbs higher than my sensors.

My 16 stock sensors in aftermarket wheels read a pound higher than my joe's race air gauge. It's OK with me because I just use the display indicator to tell me that I don't have a very low pressure situation. To get finite,I'll always use the gauge

From what I've read the TPMS piezoelectric sensors typically have an accuracy of +/- 1 psi. The typical pencil style tire gauges have accuracy around +/- 1 to 2 psi and can't be calibrated. The better gauges have a means of calibration.
My car reads 2 psi higher than the gauges I use, and that completely fits my expectations. Close enough given the constraints.
