Bug in my 2017 Convert

I stop at the car wash down the street. It's one of those touch less ones. Park by the machine that takes your money/CC and shut off the car. Get out to use the brush bucket to wash the wheels. Mean time the doors lock. Than the problem. Once locked the buttons on the door handles no longer work. I can unlock with the remote which is what I end up doing. Another thing that happens is when I push the button on the trunk to unlock trunk it sets off the alarm. I can duplicate this too.

I've dealt with the lock issue before. It fixed itself. Others on the site believed it had to do with frequency signals getting crossed, then it happened again while at home. Exchanged key fobs and it hasn't happened since. Gonna take the 1st in on my next oil change being the key fob issue has been documented as a common problem. Maybe you have a domino effect with regards to your alarm. Just guessing tho...

Thank you for such a brilliant comment. Without people like you we wouldn't have such a great site.

You need to finish the sentence by yourself.
Go to a different car wash and see if the problem persists, if not, then there is some kind of electronic device interfering with your vehicle.

Wasn't that hard, was it?

I'm disappointed, I thought this was going to be about an actual bug inside your car, I was just going to suggest opening the top and seeing if it would fly out lol.

Yeah, I think if you're claiming this only happens at a car wash, it comes down to one of two things:

1) Your car only behaves this way when wet. If so there's no reason you shouldn't be able to spray this down with a garden hose at home and recreate it.

2) The carwash is in some area with strong electromagnetic interference and it is affecting the FOB. Wireless FOBs are a convenience factor, but also have downsides. While it takes a very deliberate act for an outside signal signal to unlock your car (i.e.: some jackass using a signal repeater to break in), it's relatively much easier for something to just non-deliberately jam the signal such that you can't unlock it.

Well I agree with going to another carwash.
Everytime I go into a certain store my phone acts up and starts ringning and then kind of resets with a blank screen and logo.
Going outside again all is fine...
So these electronic disruptions is unfortunately a fact in many cases.

I guess the car will behave about the same.
It's a wonderful world or not...
