Conflicting aftermarket catback info...

Ok so I am looking for a catback and I keep getting conflicting info on AFM and the NPP valves. Here is the info...

1- Some say you can just tie the NPP actuators out of the way without getting a code while others say you can't and you WILL get a code. MBRP has brackets that supposedly eliminates a code but it is just a bracket. So why would it throw a code just from being tied away? Is it that sensitive that it will code you unless it is connected to a bracket that does absolutely nothing?

2- AFM valves...WTF does this have to do with the exhaust? I keep hearing that ALL aftermarket exhausts somehow eliminate the AFM or something and that'll throw the ECU off. Is this true?

So basically, those of you who have done aftermarket catbacks...which system did you use? Did it eliminate AFM? Did it eliminate NPP? Did you have to hang the actuators? If so, did you get a code? I been trying to sort thru all this for a while and the more I look it up the more confused I get. Even the descriptions of the exhausts are not clear on what is what. Any help is appreciated as I plan to order either MBRP or Magnaflow on Wednesday. Thanks guys.

Mbrp has a bracket so that the acuators are still plugged in to hold them up.

ZL1 don't have AFM so don't worry yourself with that. Just buy a kit that does not include them or is specified for a manual SS

Oh thank God!! Finally some answers, lol!! Thanks man! I swear, even some of the companies I talked to don't know all the details.

If you go with another brand with no NPP, you can just zip tie the actuator connectors out of the way, and cover them with electrical tape. I did that for my Borla Atak, no NPP. The actuators themselves can stay on the stock exhaust.

I have been trying to figure this out but really haven't seen anything. So the ZL1 doesn't have AFM or just not the rear valves? I know the Corvettes show V4 mode in the display, but haven't seen that on the ZL1 so wasn't sure.

If you unplug the NPP actuators you will get a soft code that is stored in the ECM, it doesn't trip the light but only references that the actuators are not working.

What had me confused is that some of the online retailers are saying it does. But I did some digging and the ZL1 does NOT have AFM. According to Mr. Wyndham as confirmed by Al Oppenheiser. See the link below...post # 26.
