even though most of us dont "live our lives one 1/4 mile at a time" or run the Streets of Willow back and forth to work each day are we really complaining that a manufacturer improved the performance capabilities of their vehicles? or is it that they increased the cost to do so?

Yes the Hellcat weighs 4500lbs...its a big car with lots of room for passengers and cargo. that 4500lb pig will also also curb stomp just about anything alse rolling off a production line in a drag race and give alot of modded cars fits as well. to boot it also handles and stops far better than the vast majority of drivers have the skill to take advantage of. The only thing we should be complaining about is that we dont have the spare $75k to own one.

I'm a Ford guy and I think the Hellcat is amazing and I wish I could own one. I'm betting if the HC wore a Bowtie there would be a different tune being sung around here.

To think that Dodge can't produce a track focused vehicle is comical. Has Chevy come up with anything to challenge the now 3-yro Viper ACR? Even with all the tech toys Chevy throws into the supercharged Corvette and Camaro they still can't unthrone the N/A Viper.

Dodge has the fastest domestic street legal 1/4 mile car in the Hellcat we won't even mention the Demon, the fastest top end muscle car2 and 4 doors, and the absolute fastest track car. Can Chevy claim being faster in any domestic performance venue?
You should probably keep going with your list and include quality and reliability in the comparison.

Come to Chicago. There are 3 of them that I'm aware of that are stock except for drag radials running in the 10.90's. My buddy owns a black on that's been 10.80 on a radial and skinnies.

Having grown up in the late 80's I personally love flares. Reminds me of cars like the 85 Supra which was my second car. For me the one down side to the Challenger has always been those long slab sided quarter panels with the skinny little tires. The car just didn't have character and seemed like it was propped up on pogo sticks.

As for Price. It doesn't matter what the sticker is on the car. IN 6 months they will be giving them away the same as the normal Hellcat. Local dealers here are giving Hellcats away with 6 speed Challengers selling in the low $50K range and used models with under 5K miles selling in the mid $40K range. Made for a very hard decision when it came time to buy a new toy. Honestly, if I knew the widebody was coming back when I bought the Camaro I might have waited....

Is there a quality or reliability problem with the Challenger or Charger beyond what Camaros and Corvettes suffer from.

Did Dodge produce a 100k sports car that can't go more than a lap before it overheats and goes into limp mode. Then tells buyers tough luck? Hows that for J.D. Powers Rankings.

It's the perks of being in a car specific forum. Of course there's always going to be a bias. My favorite part about the hellcat is the fact that it's competing with no one else, it made it's own segment. Can't really make comparisons because something like the ZL1 is more track oriented than drag. I doubt the GT500 will be able to compete either if it ever comes to life any time soon. And this kitty has been YEARS in the making, give it a little respect at least. I remembered it being rumored for the longest time and almost everyone on the Dodge forums were holding their breathes for it.
