Procharger helical gears or no?!

Hi everyone. This is my first post but I have been following the forums for a while now. So I've decided after a lot of thought and research that the procharger is what I believe will work best for my needs. So my question is for those who have heard these units with and without the helical gears. I tried to listen to video clips of these on our cars and quite frankly I cannot find anything that sounds clear at all. I do like the sound of a traditional supercharger whine, but people say a centrifugal supercharger doesn't sound like that... more like a bad alternator. I don't want it to sound like crap, but I do want it to be noticeable. I have heard some say with the helical gears you can't even tell it's boosted until you're mashing the throttle.

I spoke with a very nice guy at Jannetty racing earlier and I will be purchasing my procharger through them this coming week. I just need to make a decision on the gears. What do you think of yours?

Thank you!

I love mine. Straight cut. It's actually hard to hear at idle with the hood closed.

You'll be happy either way you go.

Thank you for your input. I am currently leading toward straight cut as well.

Out of curiosity, assuming your setup is still what it says in your signature, what is your best 1/4 time if you have been to the track? It's pretty much exactly what I'll be running.

Currently it's 11.32@125.

That's on ProCharger's tune. It needs to be touched up a bit in order to get the 60's down. I'm stuck in the high 1.7's low 1.8's. The ECM isn't allowing me to use everything down low with the slicks. There's easily a 10.9/10.8 in it based on the mph.

Most of the M6 people I know are having a hard time getting the ECM to let them launch hard, especially on slicks.

I asked the same question a few months back. Based on those reviews I went with the helical cut.

I am not sure what straight cut sounds like.. I am happy I went helica gears as even with the helica gears you will hear a whistle whine kinda like speaker interference when you first start the car up until it warms up then driving it tames down to a mild whistle speaker whine only hear it of course at low speeds once you get on it or have the stereo up can't hear it at all. My best time was 12.34 114mph pro charger tune 2.0 60ft 3600 DA. Before my prochrager my best time with just mishomoto intake same track da 3400 DA 12.7 110mph 1.9 60ft.

I'm glad you like it. What you're describing as far as sound is what I'm looking for I think.

Just out of curiosity were you running street tires when you ran with the procharger? I ask because I've hit a 12.5 with street tires bone stock, but I've heard if you supercharge and try to run it down the track without at least using drag radials, most of the time you will not get great 1/4 time or 60 foot simply because it won't hook up.

I mention this because I'll be extremely upset if I can't break into the 11's after dropping 6k on a supercharger.

Both track days were on stock run flats. Yes, I had that same feeling.
However, I am sure my car was pulling tons of timing as it was such a horrible DA. There was also, 15 zl1 with pulley swap tune full exhaust on slicks ran 11.5 126mph 1.7 60ft.

When I ran in Indy on Power Tour the car only went 12.3 on street tires. But it spun once I hit boost in first and again when I shifted and once boost came on again in second. The street tires simply can't hold the power. That will be the same with any supercharger.

Wish I know you were there, could have stopped and said hello! I was running the Maggie Camaro. There were quite a few 6th gens in the staging lanes, but didn't know if anyone was on the forum.

Yea, my daughter (who's 11) insisted I make a pass. I wasn't expecting anything spectacular with the weather and street tires. Once I get the tune straitened out I'll make it down there for an event. It's always funny to see reactions when people realize there are those of us still shifting with a 10 sec capable car.
