2SS Coupe - Is this a good deal?

So I've gotten the new camaro itch and am looking to upgrade into a 6th generation. But I wanted to get everyone's opinion on whether this was a good deal or not.

2017 2SS Camaro (Red)
100 Miles
Automatic
Magnetic Ride Control
Black aluminum wheels
navigation
MSRP 47.7K, asking for 41K +tax
+2.5K in rebates

Trade:
2LT 2013 Camaro (Red w/black stripe)
17K miles (very low and in great condition)
Offering me $17K (I'll be underwater on this one by a good amount)

Thoughts?

Maybe think about selling the Camaro privately? Not sure if you would get much more BUT I got rid of my 2011 RS last year, with 51k miles and I got 17,800 for it. I put a lot into it but that usually doesn't make any difference unless you're selling to the right person. Something else that may or may not help you out, I got my 2016 SS, fully loaded for the exact same price plus incentives without a trade in so you could get the same deal without having to trade in your current car, if you were worried about that.

How bad is the negative? Does it push it back to sticker price?

I always cross shop with a comparable. In my case, I put Dodge and a Scat Pack Challenger up against my 2SS and had each dealer fight it out until one of the was the best offer. It ended up being a couple thousand below the original offer and trade. Always be willing to get the other car, and I certainly would have enjoyed the Scat.

$6K in negative. $2.5K in rebates nets some of it off. So the trade in value if you factor that in is $19.5K said another way.

But you make a great point. I'll go check a local dealership to see what they have to offer. I think this current offer is fair all things considered, I would have wanted more on the trade but think I'm making that up in rebates.

Thats ok for a deal in the middle of summer. IF You wait longer then they will get cheaper bought a 2ss that was $49.8k msrp. Got it for a cool 35k in December.

Just a caveat that I do live in California, its pretty much hot here the entire year. I don't disagree that the Camaros will be cheaper in October/November as they will try and clear stock, I just don't think I will get 30% off MSRP.

Yea your right. I live in Minnesota a completely different deal. You won't see that good off a deal in a state that's always warm!

In general I would never advise someone to roll money owed on one car to another one.

You will get more money on the old car selling it privately but lose out on sales tax considerations (not sure what your rate is out there). Where I live sales tax on a 40k car is not something to sneeze at and if you can cut that in half by trading in a 20k car it typically makes the difference in tradein vs private sale closer to being the same especially when you have to deal with a bunch of folks coming by to look all the time.

Setting aside the trade for a moment. I think incentives will be better from GM later on than they are now. California might never get cold but most of the country does and that's when they put out incentives nationally to sell these cars.

Honestly $17.5k is a good price for a 13 2LT/RS you might be able to snag $1k more selling it private but it might take a few weeks to a few months. Issues is SS cars can be had for $18k+ saw a 45th SS coupe for $18.5k w/ 22k on the clock.

You will pretty much pay sticker when they factor in the negative equity you have in the 13 so it's up to you. In my area 17's are hard to find most dealerships have none sitting.

GM incentives have been getting wore and worse I purchased in April and March rebates were better you might find a good July 4th Sale or since it's the end of the month wait until Friday see if you can squeeze another $1-2k out of them if you try and get it Thursday or Friday.

yeah, end of month in a couple of days and happens to go straight into weekend leading into 4th of July, so might get lucky with some end of month and/or holiday incentives.

That's right about the end of the month. Shop other dealers in your area to get a comparison. CALL BECKY at Rogers!

Buying a new 2017 Camaro is exciting stuff. Your concerns about being "upside down" on your current ride will fade pretty fast. A long time lesson learned is to always put as much money or equity down as possible. Be happy!

I live in Vegas.... they don't wheel and deal here or CA nearly like the east coast. 41k is a good deal, probably the best you'll do on a 2SS. I'd go for it

Let the Ev guys save gas for you
