The amazing sound from Whipple, Corsa, ARH & Roto-Fab.

I was at a charity cruise-in today and when leaving, my buddy got a pretty good video of my '16 SS leaving the event. These beautiful sounds are the result of the Whipple, Corsa Xtreme, ARH 1-7/8" Long Tube Headers and Roto-Fab Cold Air Intake. Car is putting 570hp and 596tq to the rear wheels.

Why does it seem like supercharger whine is so much more apparent on mustangs? Is it just me?

I'm guessing because it's because they have a smaller engine and typically have more PSI boost so the charger spins up faster? Just a guess.

You need to read up on superchargers. They are belt driven. Go from there.

I think you need to read up. They have different gearing and pullies to allow for higher RPMs and boost levels lol

Gearing doesn't matter at all, as the lob shafts are 1:1.
different pulleys changes the gear ratio from the crankshaft to the super charger. smaller pulley, faster rotation, more boost. Spin-up time, the same as it is directly linked to the crank shaft.

the amount of supercharger whine is usually related to the superchargers efficiency. Like the 03 04 cobra. It had an eaton M112 and was horribly inefficient so it whined a lot from the factory and really screamed with a smaller pulley. This new whipple is probably very efficient and you wont hear much whine until you can really pulley it down and get it spinning.

Most of the reason for supercharger whine is air friction across the vanes. The harder you thrash on it, the more friction/noise/heat you create. They all run necessarily tight tolerances, but some run tighter tolerances and larger volumes than others.

Depending on the drive system, and whether the belt uses cogs and straight-cut gears, there could be noise made there too. When GMC roots blowers were common in hot rodding, some would drill relief holes in the grooves of the blower drive pulley to allow compressed air to escape and not add to the noise.
