That is more common. The rear diff fluid has been know to have an issue. Maybe the friction modifier separates or something, which causes the rear diff to click, pop, grown, etc. I have seen others report that the dealer drains the fluid and refills is with fresh fluid and the diff quiets down. Hopefully that is all it is.

Just left the dealership and the service guy thinks its coming from the front end. And go figure his front end guy is in class today and will not be back to work until Monday. This morning I was driving a camaro SS and now im driving in a chevy malibu.......so disappointed. This is the 7th brand new car ive had since '08 and never have I had to take the previous 6 in for any kind of service besides an oil change and tire rotation. Now here I am with 200 miles and had the car 3 days when this started and it was a week ago this Saturday that I bought the car. Not looking good.

So I received a call from the dealership today and they had their master tech and Chevrolet engineering working on the issue today and what they came up with was either the strut mount or the strut all together. Chevrolet engineering stated this is the first reported case of this issue. They are over nighting both the strut mount and strut to the dealership tomorrow. They will try the strut mount first and if that doesnt resolve the issue then they will replace the whole strut. Not liking the fact that they will be breaking the front strut down and potentially replacing this on a car thats less than a week old. When i asked how this could have happened they really couldnt give me an answer at the moment. I will post an update after I hear from the dealership tomorrow.

At first, they suspected it was a suspension problem that had been seen on the ATS, but they ruled that out... then they thought it was faulty lug nuts, but that was also ruled out, and they found that it had something to do with the tire not "seating" right... I don't recall the details, I was in a rush to leave when they gave me the car back.

The fix involved deflating the tire, sealing it, then over-inflating it, running it a bit, then bringing it back to 37psi and driving it over the weekend while checking for the sound.

so far the sound has vanished. I even took it to the mall indoor parking place which ampliefies all sound to double and triple check, took some turns to the left, which would result in the clicking sound, and it is still gone.

I don't know if this is a temporary fix or permanent; time will tell.

For me it was coming from the right front wheel area, and only when taking left turns.

Hope that helps. Take it to the dealer when you can.
I assume they said the tire wasn't seated properly?? If the bead didn't properly seat I could see it causing a vibration at higher speeds, but a noise at low speeds is kind of odd.

So the dealership changed the strut mount and that didnt fix the noise. They went ahead and changed the strut assembly and they said that fixed the noise. The dealership went ahead and tinted my windows out of courtesy for my inconvenience. So i pick it up in the morning to check for myself that its ready to go and the noise is gone. Hopefully all goes well.

Picked up the car and its fixed and I love it. Gotta give the dealership lots of credit for good communication throughout this process. I received calls from the GM of the dealership early on to let me know he was involved and apologize for my situation. He even tinted my windows for free which i didnt ask for. Now i just hope this is my only issue with the car.

I had the same clicking noise when making right turns at very low speeds. Had it fixed by the dealer. PI1498B - clean rotor and wheel mating surfaces and torque studs to 140 ft/lbs (~40 over). Sounds ok so far.

I'm having a clicking sound that I can hear when my passenger side window is open and I'm driving by a highway barrier, wall, building or something that sound can bounce off. Dealership says it's the rotors on the high performance Brembos and it's normal. Not sure I believe that until I research it more. Any input?

Sounds like the infamous wheel clicking. I just had mine fixed yesterday. They have to clean the mating surface of the rim and the brake hub. I don't know why this is a problem, but there is a TSB on it.

I noticed this today too. I'm not terribly worried about it, will probably just have this done if something else pops up like the sway bar issue, or when I take it in for the first oil change.

Im out on vacation so im not able to take it in to the dealership immediately. Any help is appreciated.

Yeah i had the exact problem. Took it to the dealer, and he was able to duplicate the sound by turning slowly and it came from the front left side. He told me he just cleaned the rotors and I haven't heard it since. Hope that helps.
