I'm thinking 7:23.6 That would be six seconds faster than the standard ZL1 https://nurburgringlaptimes.com/lap-times-top-100/ Last edited by NCSD; 06-22-2017 at 12:39 AM. |

I am guessing that it will get into the 7:2x range.

7:19.XXX
May be a stretch..... but you never know.... That is a long track to make up a second here, a second there...... |

Think lower. Guarantee they're aiming for new GT3 @ 7:12. Nobody would have believed the Hurican Performante could run a 6:52 a couple months ago. ZL1 1LE's aero is a game changer at the Nordschelife, then the tires...

I would be ecstatic, but VERY surprised if they even touched the new GT3. I think this will be a new ZR1's job. Heck, I would find it totally amazing if they got close to the old ZR1's time of 7:19, which had a far superior weight to power ratio, yet very capable suspension and rubber.
Not much aero, but then again the latter slows things down on the straights. We shall see...it IS a long track

'Ring times just don't matter all that much to me. Too many variables when running cars months/years apart, different conditions, different drivers, who knows what was actually done or not done to the cars, etc, etc...maybe I am in the minority, but the MT same day, same driver tests with Randy hold more merit, at least to me.

To be honest, the only time that counts is when I am behind the wheel. Vroom Vroom.

I don't think it's a stretch at all. Keep in mind the 7:29 time was set by GM ride/handling engineer Drew Cattell.
Don't get me wrong, he's a great driver. Certainly faster than 99% of us here. However, if you watch his lap, it looked like he was on a Sunday drive compared to someone like Fabio Francia in the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadriplegio. The pucker factor was really high when you watch that lap, and it was a few seconds slower than the ZL1. In the hands of someone more experienced at the 'ring, and someone who races cars for a living, there's still a lot left on the table with both of these cars. |
